Description

With a new hotel manager at the helm, no one knows what the future holds but as fashionable society retreats from London and staff depart to sign up for service, one thing is for certain; life at the Buckingham will never be the same again . A consummate storyteller adept at captivating audiences, he is now captivating readers as he whisks them away to worlds of dance, intrigue, high society and scandal… bringing the golden age of dance t Meanwhile the ballroom is still operating, and the staff are keen to attract top quality guests and provide a haven from the War. I had no idea what I was expecting, however I should have realised that someone as polished and professional as Anton would do nothing but provide the reader with a first class read. Set in the war post Dunkirk and mid London blitz we are introduced to a catalogue of characters from behind the scenes.

Centered around the start of World War Two it shows how they are dealing with it and the cost it will bring to all their lives. We simply can’t wait for theatres to reopen and to be able to entertain you once more… in the meantime, enjoy this sneak peek into the glamorous glittering ‘ Showtime‘ world. We’ll Meet Again is very British, very patriotic, perhaps a touch romanticised in places and a tad repetitive but overall it’s well written. I love the author’s style of writing, I felt as though I was there in the ballroom, watching the dancing and at the other end of the scale, I could feel the fear of the unstable place that England was and the trepidation of the characters with the regular bombings. Also available: One Enchanted Evening, Moonlight Over Mayfair, A Christmas to Remember and We'll Meet Again. It's set at the beginning of the second World War, and tells of the trauma of signing up, the sadness of those left at home, all manner of happinesses, and how the Buckingham Hotel fares during war time. I should mention that ‘A Christmas to Remember’ has just recently been released in paperback – with more lovely cover art – perfect timing for a festive gift!

It was fantastic to catch up with the characters I've grown so fond of and to be introduced to new ones.Raymond,on sick leave takes up a position with the ARP, in an endeavour to continue doing his bit for the war effort. As the band strikes up in the Grand Ballroom to celebrate the nuptials of Raymond and Nancy, one thing is certain – this will be a Christmas to remember.

War has been declared and changes abound not only for the men leaving to fight but the staff left behind. It’s comparatively easy to get swept up in the fortunes and misfortunes of these characters lives, to find yourself hoping for the best but sadly on occasion fearing the worst. Was a good contrast read from my usual (thriller) books, if you like this genre you will enjoy this. For the second series, he partnered presenter Esther Rantzen; they were eliminated in the third week.

Those who survived Dunkirk, including Raymond de Guise and Billy Brogan, are struggling to come to terms with their injuries and the loss of comrades. The final stave, based around the Dunkirk evacuation and the preparation of what lay ahead was very emotional to read. We meet a variety of people from chamber maids and housekeeper to profiteers and ball room dancers all with a back story to tell. Anton is one of the most instantly recognisable TV personalities today best known for his role on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing which he has featured on since its inception in 2004.
