We recommend this kit for panels under a 4500mm perimeter. For panels over 4500mm perimeter we recommend our Extreme Glazing Kit. These secondary glazing tapes, and cleaning wipe, is used by lots of people who do DIY themselves or professionals alike who are looking for magnet glaze 15 metre rolls.

We recommend using 3mm Acrylic sheet with MagnetGlaze or 4.5mm can be used for larger windows if extra rigidity is required. Always fit your secondary glazing to your main window frame, not to the opening part of the window. For large windows, such as 1200mm x 1200mm or bigger, you can place a couple of screws immediately below the glazing panel to add support and prevent the chance of it slipping or detaching. Again, the triangular design on the cleaner ensures that corners of windows are easily reachable, and for this cleaner, it also provides a direction to clean at in a steady circle or arc. Both Magnetglaze Pro systems provide very effective heat and noise insulation by trapping still air. They are simple to install with household tools. Always clean the surround thoroughly before applying steel tape, using alcohol wipes. Then there is the aesthetic issue. Some of the higher quality systems can match existing windows very well, but there are others, often the cheaper ones, that can take a bit more getting used to. This can be more of an issue in Conservation Areas and with listed buildings. The Tyroler has shunned the typical triangular design for a sturdy rectangle, however, it does feature an adjustable force controller, making it able to clean pane depths from 2mm to 40mm. The tool also features squeegees that removes all the water from the windows, to leave it as clear as possible. It also shuns the wrist safety cord for a ring that you keep on your finger.

Hi George, these secondary glazing kits Have been put together for the easy installation of acrylic sheet for secondary glazing. The kit comprises of a cleaning wipe and surface preparation guide. The steel tape has a white face, and so this is normally applied to the frame. The magnetic tape also has a white foamed adhesive, so if you apply this to the acrylic sheet you will only see white surface through the sheet. Kind Regards - Ian, Product Support Manager Vertical sliding secondary glazing is mostly used in conjunction with vertical sash windows and can be aligned with the existing sash frame to minimise the visual impact. Double glazed windows are essential for modern homes, as energy efficiency, heat retention, noise reduction and pleasing decors become all the more important to our homes. There are other variations for extreme depths, but the first model is suitable for anything up to 22mm. There is a wrist safety cord to ensure the outside half of the cleaner doesn’t fall causing damage or injury, and for the price, this is a helpful device to have around the home.Horizontal sliding secondary glazing is also often used with casement windows, as it can slide to one side to open a window as required. Secondary glazing should always be fitted on the interior side of your window. How effective is secondary glazing? This secondary glazing tape bundle contains all you need for fixing: Secondary Double Glazing Perspex, onto existing window frames, or to install secondary glazing using acrylic panels. This bundle is ideal alternative to double glazing, which is cheaper, more cost effective, and easier to install.

Moving in 2002 to a small-holding in South Wales, providing as it did access to a wider range of natural resources, fanned his enthusiasm for sustainability. He went on to install renewable technology at the property, including biomass boiler and wind turbine. Considering the secondary glazing options, price, style etc I think Magneglaze or indeed a DIY alternative is a fantastic way to double glaze your house, economically without compromising on original features.

Accessible, effortless storage

The options for secondary glazing are many and various, ranging from DIY systems to those that require professional installation. Systems for sliding sash windows, others that slide sideways, others that swing open, some with wooden, aluminium or plastic frames. Some that are fitted permanently and others that can be removed in summer. What will suit any particular house will vary with the size and number of windows, the sophistication of the system being used, the DIY skills of the owners and, of course, the budget available. Measure the length and width of the glass window pane that you want to secondary glaze. Measure the visible glass then add at least 55mm to the length and width measurements. This allows forspace to attach the magnetic tape to your window frame. Surface preparation is paramount for achieving the required bond when using this pressure sensitive adhesive. Read our Surface Preparation and Application Guide for more information. Although the appearance of MagnetGlaze is quite unobtrusive, it is possible to smarten it and hide any slight defects on the cut edge of the glazing sheet, by adding MagnetGlaze Finishing Trim.
