Reading the spec sheet, the 4R36 looks to be quite a decent calibre. The 24-jeweled movement beats at a rate of 3 Hz (21,600 vph) and has a claimed accuracy rating of +45/-35 seconds per day. I, for one, can tell you that the latter figure is extremely conservative. My personal SRPD51K1 which I wore for an entire week was putting out an average of +9.5 seconds per day! As for its power reserve, Seiko states the 4R has “approximately 41 hours” worth of juice, fully-wound. This is generally a very simple procedure. We can do this for you, or you can get the watch adjusted locally. Option 1. Specify your wrist measurement and we will adjust it before being sent

Generally like the idea of this low tech (no electronics at all) yet beautiful work of mechanical engineering on my wrist. Introduced in 1968, the Seiko 5 Sports range was the brand’s idea of creating a sub-model of its popular ‘5’ range, which was launched in 1963 with the birth of the Sportsmatic. I know, it’s a tad confusing. In any case, the 5 Sports line was designed for more rigorous activities compared to the 5s. As a result, today’s 5 Sports are also targeted at buyers who intend to use them as stylish, affordable, mechanical beaters that can take a hit. Description Seiko 5 Sports Blue Dial Silver Stainless Steel Automatic Mens Watch SRPD51K1 The Case:Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit. Seiko established itself throughout the 20th century as being a driving force in the advancements that took place in the watching world. For example, in 1956, Seiko were the producers of the first winding wristwatch made in Japan. Then in 1964, Seiko became the official timer for the Tokyo Olympics. And then most notably Seiko unveiled the first quartz wristwatch, the Astron, in 1969. Marking the beginning of the quartz revolution. Or equally impressive the creation of the world’s first TV watch in 1982. And even more relevant today, with our abhorrent use of non-renewable energy sources, Seiko’s Kinetic. This watch had the ability to generate its own power from the movement of the wearer. That’s because it IS sized right as the case is 99% identical to the one found on the SKX. At 42.3 mm, it’s already on the smaller side for most diver-styled watches. The compact lugs and lug-to-lug distance of 45.7 mm further combine to make it feel like a 39 mm watch on the wrist instead. Oh, and since we’re on the subject of lugs, great news! They’re drilled on the new 5s. That’s another plus point in my books. As for the lug width, they’re the same as the SKX at 22 mm. The silver bracelet of the watch is made from highly durable stainless steel, that has been finished using a brushing technique. This creates a subtle, but welcomed, contrast between the polishing of the case and the brushing of the bracelet. It comes in the style of an oyster bracelet, which is associated with the Rolex brand. It fastens using a three fold clasp. The Dial: The Seiko srpd51k1 has a water resistance of 100 meters, 330 feet, or 10 bar. This means that you can wear it when swimming, but it’s not the ideal watch to wear if you are going deep diving. But at the same time, nowadays only very few people go deep diving with their dive watches.

On the outer ring of the dial, we have the minute markers, which allow the dial itself to appear as more clean. The case has a length (lug-to-lug) of 45.7mm. Bear in mind that the Rolex Submariner 116610 has a lug-to-lug of 50.54 mm. Unlike many automatic watches, this model comes with a Seconds-Stop functionwhich allows the wearer to completely halt the movement within the watch. As for the hands, there are no changes here. The Seiko 5 Sports models appear to have retained the same broad, sword-shaped hours and stylized arrow minutes hands. As for the seconds hand, it’s the same story as well with its long counterbalance and lumed lollipop end. Of course, plenty of LumiBrite is to be found on the hour markers and hands but no lumed pip on the bezel, unfortunately. I’ve tried a few times but I can never seem to get it to line up with the chapter ring. Looks like Seiko had ideas to troll us and decided to preserve one of the SKX’s more… notable traits.

Free Strap Adjustment

When purchasing a watch which has a metal bracelet with adjustable links, we will gladly adjust the watch bracelet to fit your wrist before sending the watch to you - free of charge! Accuracy is not like quartz... mine runs fast. It's correct enough where it doesn't get annoying but this is not a watch if you're obsessed with accuracy

The Seiko 5 was actually first released by the brand in 1963. As sports watches became more popular and people wanted watches that were suitable for swimming and handling harsh conditions and treatment. The case has a mineral crystal (Hardlex). No, it’s not a sapphire crystal, likely to keep the cost down, but the mineral crystal will do the job well also. It is placed in between a Sapphire crystal and a regular glass crystal. It won’t get scratches from regular usage, but if you accidentally hit it against a hard object, it will naturally be more prone to scratches than a sapphire crystal.

The Seiko 5 Sport series was first released in 1963, its creation aimed at providing stylish yet affordable automatic watches to the younger generation of the 60s. 50 years later, the Seiko 5 Sport has been reborn, each model showcasing the key traits of the original models as well as new, updated features. And on that note, let’s begin with the (inhale) Seiko 5 Sports SRPD51K1… “The case looks… decently-sized. And very familiar…” If you love the idea of a little machine with no electronics or batteries on your wrist, will make you happy. As kind of the main form of jewelry men wear, a wrist deserves something classier than a drab smart watch. The mechanism within the watch is 4R36 automatic movementwhich is built in house and the calibre is comprised of 24 Jewelsand a 41 hour power reserve.
