As might be expected, the birdlife that can be seen in the area depends largely on the season, the state of the tide and the prevailing weather conditions.

Sandwich Tern DE81065 was ringed at the Ythan estuary (Aberdeenshire) on 1 July 2013 and sighted at Findhorn on 20 August 2013.Everyone with an interest in birds is very welcome to attend, whether or not you are a member of SOC. By contrast, only a handful of Pintail could be seen 10 years ago, but in the winter of 2014-15 there were regularly over 200 and their numbers seem to be steadily increasing year after year. Teal and Goldeneye will also be present all winter, but in smaller numbers. Sandwich Tern yellow T19 (1588120) was ringed at Texel (NETHERLANDS) on 27 June 2015 and sighted at Teesmouth on 26 July 2015, on Findhorn beach (NJ0364) on 17 August 2019 and 21 August 2020, and at Longniddry (Lothian) on 25 August 2020, after 5 years 1 month. Knot 8X was ringed at Altcar (Merseyside) on 22 September 2017 and sighted at Findhorn Bay (NJ0462) on 18 & 19 January 2018, after 4 months. Sandwich Tern white VVC was ringed at Griend (NETHERLANDS) on 24 June 2020 (as a nestling) and sighted on Findhorn beach (NJ0364) on 3 September 2020, after 2 months 1 week.

Knot N8NGPG was ringed at Griend (NETHERLANDS) on 22 September 2017 and sighted in Findhorn Bay (NJ0462) on 8 January 2018, at Griend (NETHERLANDS) on 23 July 2018 and 15 September 2019, and again in Findhorn Bay on 22 January 2022, after 4 years 4 months.Knot N6RRYY was ringed at Griend (NETHERLANDS) on 7 October 2013 and sighted at Lebesby, Finnmark (NORWAY) on 23 May 2016, in Findhorn Bay (NJ0462) on 23 February 2018 and again in Findhorn Bay on 25 January 2022, after 8 years 3 months.

Sandwich Tern DE10723 was ringed at the Ythan estuary (Aberdeenshire) on 9 June 2009 and sighted at Findhorn on 17 August 2013. Sandwich Tern DE24736 was ringed at the Ythan estuary (Aberdeenshire) on 17 June 2010 and sighted at Findhorn on 17 August 2013.Shag 1485363 (green AAS) was ringed on the Isle of May (Fife NT6599) on 1 June 2016 and sighted at Lossiemouth (NJ2371) on 28 October 2017, after 5 months. Sandwich Tern DE35677 was ringed at the Ythan estuary (Aberdeenshire) on 20 July 2011 and sighted at Portrush, Londonderry (Northern Ireland) on 11 September 2012 and at Findhorn on 21 August 2013.
