Description

Since “he/him/his” pronouns are used in his biography and in the book jacket blurb, those are the pronouns I will use throughout this review. But on social media I’m a curated brand— I don’t have time to show off my full self, or to explain who I really am in addition to the jokes and glamour. To sum it up, "You're That Bitch" is a must-read for anyone seeking empowerment, personal growth, and a boost of confidence. Sometimes I’m lazy, I get bored, I get scared, I feel ignored, I feel happy, I get silly, I choke on my own words.

Like, how one of my biggest accomplishments and blessings in life was not fucking anyone from my high school— I didn’t date anyone the entire four years. Everything that I love about myself that is feminine, is because a woman that I love has introduced it to me”. It felt like I was catching up with a friend and he was just dishing out all the things I’ve missed.

Other stories highlight what it's like to grow up queer, to be an immigrant, to come from a big family, to come from a family that dealt with divorce/separation, spirituality, remembering your roots, and celebrating the people who helped shape him into who he is, grief, and so many other stories I can't think of right now. I highly recommend reading Bretman’s biography, as it is so full of warmth, humour, and important life lessons.

Throughout the memoir, Rock uses both “he/him/his” and “she/her/hers” pronouns and clarifies his lack of preference. And no, you probably haven't heard of it, because Cosmopolitan is exclusively revealing that Bretman is releasing his first-ever memoir! But I wanted the book to circle back into the reader while sharing my story and telling them that you’re that b--ch as well.Always knew he was funny, but I’m happy to report that this book was thoughtful and introspective as well.

With a combined following of over 45 million globally, you may recognize Bretman from his reality series, MTV's Following: Bretman Rock or his YouTube Originals limited series, 30 Days With: Bretman Rock. Outrageously funny, yet grounded and authentic, Bretman Rock tells all in this wonderfully put together autobiography of his life. It seems that there is an intrinsic relationship between lesbianism and masculinity for Rock, and while there are lesbians who claim that description, it’s not something Rock can.And we are proud to present you “Bretman Rocks Manila: Book Signing Events”, a two-day book tour you dare not miss! To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. Gender and sexuality are two principal themes of Rock’s memoir, given his status as a pioneer of “the new standard of genderless beauty. Nadja Sayej is an arts and culture journalist based in New York City who has written 5 books, including Biennale Bitch and The Celebrity Interview Book. Bretman Rock has always been real, whether on social media or his reality shows, but this might be his most personal project yet.I think everyone’s experience in life is unique–but I wrote so much about myself in the book, and I hope there is at least one chapter you can relate to, whether it’s being an immigrant, learning a new language, meeting someone in Disneyland, going to a different country, having divorced parents, and whatnot," he added. Bretman Rock is a digital entertainer, known for his unique sense of comedy, genderbending fashion and helping to pioneer the new standard of genderless beauty. The tone is so well established through the dialogue utilised throughout each of his stories, and his voice radiates pure confidence. Hilarious and earnest, this collection of essays, drawings, recipes, how-tos and never-before-seen photos goes far beyond what we know of Bretman Rock from social media. Being a Filipino-American myself, I genuinely felt like I was reading a life memoir from a best friend, and it was inspiring to see someone from my culture achieve such monumental and groundbreaking moments at such a young age.
