In this article we review the Sennheiser IE 600 universal In-ear. The IE 600 is selling for €699 Euro. Concluding, the IE600 demands a significant amount of power and a quality DAC to sound its best. COMPARISONS You do get the sense of the IE 600 sounding even fuller, yet less extended in sound stage and notes in SE mode. The second main impact is on the bass, which in single ended mode isn’t as present but it is tighter. It however also is technically less strong. With regards to comfort, the IE600s are a joy to wear and are one of the few IEMs you can comfortably have in your ears while lying on the side resting your head on a pillow. The included tips are quite okay but I find them to require some effort to get a good seal and there is quite a size difference between the medium and large size. As always with IEMs, be prepared to buy your own tips if necessary. Every ear is different, and a good seal and comfortable tips are essential. One thing to note here is that the supplied tips has some mesh in front of the driver, which as far as I could tell makes the treble a bit softer.

Since I received this unit from my fellow audiophile Pulkit Dreamz, I am grateful to him. And as I've said in all of my evaluations, the same is true for this one: all of the concepts I've expressed below are entirely my own, original ideas that haven't been influenced by anyone else. The bass is quite powerful. The guitar has a warm glow to it. You can hear all the little details in the percussion, but it’s never too bright sounding. The soundstage is not extremely big, but it doesn’t feel closed in, just intimate.

So if your digital audio player is similarly talented – be sure to look at our list of the best headphones DACs to pair with them – the IE600 will take your mobile listening experience to a whole other level. Sennheiser IE600 review: also consider The IE 600 according to Jermo Köhnke, Product Manager at Sennheiser delivers a neutral reference tuning. The IE 600 will be a reference for the most demanding mobile audio enthusiasts. This driver is a little smaller than what you might expect to find in an earphone. Where most of those hover around the 10mm mark, here the IE 600 makes do with a 7mm one (and 3mm might not sound significant but it’s a meaningful drop in radiating area). This helps to boost the upper frequency performance but the reduction in cross section would notionally lead to a drop in bass output. To compensate, Sennheiser uses a series of chambers to augment the low frequency response. Where the IE 900 is a triple chamber device, the IE 600 simplifies this process somewhat and makes use of a dual chamber arrangement. Well, Sennheiser has another incredible IEM on the market. The IE 600 is easy to fall in love with, as it gives you an intimate soundstage that’s spacious as well as focused, while the bass has impact and shape. The mids and highs are also sweet and natural, making this one of the best IEMs in this price range for pure accuracy. If you weren’t into the size of the past IE models, the IE 600 doesn’t change anything, but that doesn’t mean they can’t offer any comfort at all. With the IE 600, Sennheiser has made their ideal mid-fi IEM and offers serious competition to the more established choices in this price range. With Portishead’s It Could Be Sweet the differences between the Kato and the IE600 are very apparent. The bass is much more present with the IE600, and the general presentation is fuller and darker. The vocals have more presence in the lower mids with the IE600 and in the upper mids with the Kato. The Kato sounds lighter and more airy, the IE600 fuller and with more body. Through a patented 3D printing process, the housings of the IE 600 have been crafted from ZR01 amorphous zirconium, a metal with a glass-like atomic structure that gives it triple the hardness and bend resistance of high-performance steel. One of the only other places ZR01 amorphous zirconium is used — besides ultra-high-end products like the IE 600 — is in the aerospace industry, such as in the drilling head of the NASA Mars Rover, where ultimate toughness in extreme conditions is required. Through multiple elaborate treatment processes, a beautiful surface finish is achieved that is extraordinarily resistant against corrosion and scratches. This exceptional resilience ensures the IE 600 can be enjoyed for many years while its distinctive great looks remain undiminished.

Just don't expect to seat these like your other IEMs. They work their own way to get the ideal fit. In Paul Simon's "Can't Run But," the fitful percussion and J. J. Cale's guitar curlicues glimmer throughout. The percussion that's spread across "On the Corner" by Miles Davis -- trap drums, tabla, cowbell, congas -- is differentiated and distinct. And every scurrying piccolo and clarinet in Valery Gergiev The IE 600 was designed in Germany and manufactured at Sonova Consumer Hearing's state-of-the-art transducer production facilities in Ireland. (Sonova acquired Sennheiser's Consumer Division earlier this year.) One of the most advanced production lines of its type in the world, this manufacturing facility has a singular goal: to exceed the expectations of audiophiles with the highest manufacturing standards, like industry-leading channel matching. The bass on the IE600 has much more texture than the IE800S. I guess size matters after all, even though they both are tiny in absolute terms. Here, the difference in soundstage isn’t really noteworthy. The IE800S still has the best vocals.

I think Sennheiser did a great job with these 3 IEMs as they have 3 different tunings/signatures and one of these is sure to please your ears (and purse). For me personally the IE 900 is the very best for my spoiled ears, but I do can enjoy the IE 300 for movies and the IE 600 for on the go where you want a bit more body and don’t need the hyper detail. String music sounds very good on the IE600. Lots of texture and detail. No harshness or fatigue-inducing brightness. The instruments never sound thin or clinical. To conclude, the IE600 and IE800S have different strong points. The IE600 has better soundstage and bass quality, the IE800S has a more present, organic mid-range and more liquid highs. A blend of the two would be ideal. It makes me curious about what the IE900 can offer. CONCLUSION There are details in the introduction that I never even noticed before. These are some extremely revealing in-ears. When the bass enters, it is with great presence and slight but pleasant bloom. Voices are nuanced and natural sounding.
