It was by no means a powerful set of speakers (I want to say something like 45W total for the speakers, compared to the 32W peak output of the G2000, but I’m not 100% sure about that), but the dedicated subwoofer definitely made a difference. However, they do come with one interesting feature and that’s its dual sound effect modes. There’s a monitor and a music mode on hand, and you switch between the two by pressing the power dial. The LED that indicates that the speakers are on switches between red for monitor and green for music mode. Like the EQ dials, the effect is pretty subtle, but the music mode does seem to boost the mid-highs a little to give the audio a little more presence while the monitor mode gives a more neutral frequency response. If you can stomach that issue, the Edifier G2000 speakers are a great pair of compact speakers, offering quality and power that belies their size. They’re particularly handy if you’re short on space, sitting neatly (as mine are) between the shelves of a TV stand, and you can’t fault their style. They’re not cheap, compared to similar-sized speakers, but in the case of the Edifier G2000s you more than get the performance you pay for.
