And that's basically Legesi in a nutshell. No, I wouldn't say that it's a perfect copy of Platinum Egoiste, nor is it even a great one. You see, I used to own PE but had difficulty getting over the sharp, almost sour metallic vibe in the mid, most likely due to the combination of clary sage and geranium. Legesi does away with both, in addition to the neroli, amber and vetiver, and simply smoothes out the composition from top to bottom, while adding a touch of sweetness to the base. From the opening spray to the drydown nearly 1 hour in, there is a distinct reshuffling of the notes. It starts off mostly bitter and green, and ends mostly smooth and sweet, with the soapiness enveloping the entire lifespan. But therein lies its greatness. Instead of drying down to some modern, sweet generic nonsense greatly favoured by this generation's compliment-seeking douchebag, it takes a turn toward the vintage soapiness of yesteryear's distinguished gentleman - the mature, yet still youthful husband, father and teacher. If you've ever smelled Platinum Egoiste, you'll recognize the essentials in Legesi right from the first spray - the herbal rosemary, the smooth lavender, the green galbanum and subtley piney cedarwood. Strangely enough, it's an entirely different development on paper than it is on skin.Right from the start this fragrance made me recognise two things. It really smells like 90's and kind of like Cool Water but not really. Soapy in the elegant way that I find familiar but don't actually like. Bear with me, I do like Cool Water, I'll explain. So, for the entire hour of wearing it I couldn't acutally ascertain why I don't like it and what fragrance exactly is Legesi copying. Then I made the connection with Chanel Platinum Egoiste - which I don't like. Oh I like to smell it on others, but I never liked how the stuff smelled and smells on me. Top notes of this perfume include peach, bergamot, lemon and lychee. These follow through with middle notes of cinnamon, jasmine, apple and lily-of-the-valley. The fragrance is completed by a base of cedar, sandalwood and musk. Floral and fruity at once, it conjures up spring, nature and awakening. High Price but Various Sizes If you don't want to break the bank with Platinum Egoiste, you can take Armaf Legesi into consideration. It's a good copy, albeit maybe just a bit less "natural" than Chanel, but in the drydown it gets much better.
