Apparently, this started out as Harry Potter fanfiction, and it should have stayed as Harry Potter fanfiction. However, I think I would have liked it much better if I hadn’t read the Mortal Instruments series before. Then we meet William Herondale, who's supposed to be a great warrior but who's also extremely handsome, cocky and filled with smartass remarks up his sleeves, who is rude to everyone else for no good reason.

The gentle, 'good boy' Jem is Simon in disguise, Jem is being designed to be the weaker part of the love triangle, I like him just as I like Simon, but I have nothing more to say about him. At the party, Magnus seeks Will and Tessa and they discover mysterious manuscripts in the library, which contain scribblings that indicate towards the formation of a clockwork army. I may be reading too much Holy Bourne but the whole girl whose not like other girls is a damaging, and more importantly, annoying stereotype. He is also believed to have had connections with the Downworld and subsequently, the Pandemonium Club.

But all I can see is the Shadowhunters falling into the bad guy's trap foolishly and conveniently so Will can rush in for the rescue at the last minute. One of the biggest mysteries which I look forward to seeing revealed is that of Tessa who is also a very likable and believable heroine who though strong and brave also likes to fantasize about her most loved novels and characters as plenty of teenage girls would do. She soon finds herself fascinated by and torn between two best friends: Jem, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length. Oh, and it has to be super obvious who's going to win (it's usually the cocky jerk, not the nice guy). I wouldn't have had a problem with this, because it's the 19th century, if Will hadn't felt like he came straight out of a frat party driving his Mitsubishi in the year 2017.

Cassandra Clare is quickly becoming my favorite author and with her latest book, it's not hard to see why. Tessa has a strange obsession with his eyeballs, and she constantly (I mean every other sentence) describes them in different ways that. They have their weaknesses and strengths, they love, they hurt, they joke, they cry, they are palpable and genuine and they are everything to me! Jessamine has it in her, but I didn’t particularly like her and she didn’t show any signs of love for her fellow Shadowhunters as Isabelle did despite her attitude.

After the death of her aunt, Tessa Gray is sent a ticket to travel to London by her brother Nathaniel. Charlotte and Henry's investigation proves fruitful when Mortmain, who—strangely—knows a great deal about the Downworld, tells them that Nate had taken an interest in the Pandemonium Club, much like he himself had.
