I have enjoyed this series immensely from book one and would say please read the other books before this one as this brings together threads from a few of the previous books.

A son retour, ils doivent résoudre plusieurs enquêtes, du vol de vêtements à la disparition d'un jeune homme. Although one of the main story lines that has run throughout the series has been resolved, you are left with the definite feeling that there is much more to come and it is eagerly awaited by this reader! In terms of ratings, I can imagine that those readers invested in the goings on in Bruncliffe and the Dales Detective Agency it’s a clear winner but it proved a bit of a struggle for me without experience of the earlier books. Little do the detective duo know that several of their cases are about to collide, as what appears to be a simple matter of identifying the whereabouts of the missing man becomes something far more sinister.

They get better with each book and we get to see more and more characters that add a lot to the story – old people, a rich guy, questionable characters, all together shady characters, a fun as hell cleaner/maid, and so much more!

The stakes are high, the danger greater than ever as the villain of the piece sees their plans fast unravelling, but will the Dales Detective Agency succeed in discovering the perpetrator, and will Bruncliffe be left unscathed, or will the village be scarred forever by the fallout of this last(? The obvious exception is the perpetrator, who is, in melodramatic fashion, particularly evil and sociopathic. I would like to thank Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for an advance copy of Date with Evil, the eighth novel to feature Samson O’Brien and Delilah Metcalfe of the Dales Detective Agency, set in the fictional Yorkshire town of Buncliffe. As usual, the use of strings of 'someone doing or having done something' phrases impeded the flow: a little variation in sentence structure would make the stories read even better. They will have to put the past behind them if there is to be any business coming their way, and now with suspicious deaths, they embark on different mysteries in every book. Its distinctive landscape and way of life provide the setting for her latest set of novels, the Dales Detective series. But in each book we get a glimpse to the end game, so if you are going to start this series I recommend book one! Romantic attachments that have been bubbling for a while are cemented, whilst the untrustworthy members of the town have been routed.
