Gibbons, who worked as a copywriter at a marketing agency before leaving to focus on her career as a children’s author, added: “Being published by HarperCollins and working with Chris Riddell is a dream come true – not just for grown-up Fran, but for my 12-year-old self. That’s how old I was when I first had the idea for the story. I still can’t quite believe that it’s going to be read by other children – and maybe a few adults too.” I can't highlight how much I love seeing Chris Riddell's illustrations, they are so beautiful and really captures the characters and scenes that Francesca has created, although I wish there were more sprinkled throughout, but then again I'm just a big fan of his work.

I have been enjoying children’s fiction recently and this book was definitely an easy read and a fun one. It’s illustrated by Chris Riddell for starters and his work is always wonderfully fun and creative and brings the characters and plot to life. This book had some great characters and panels for illustrations, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing his interpretations. Could the monsters, that descend on the city each night, be terribly misunderstood?Could the king have a dark secret that’s destroying the kingdom?Strangest of all, can little sisters sometimes be useful? Marie is my favourite character, I think she is the true hero of the story! Imogen did really, really irk me at times, but she slowly starts to progress and develop. The stars in the Big Dipper are also part of the constellation Ursa Major. The Big Dipper is also known as the Plough, Saptarishi (Seven Sages), or Butcher’s Cleaver. It is one of the most well-known asterisms in history. It has been used by explorers, stargazers, and astronomers to locate the North Star. Use the Big Dipper to find the North Star or Polaris. The 2 outer stars of the Big Dipper – Dubhe and Merak – point towards the North Star. To find it, draw an imaginary line connecting the 2 stars, which are also known as Pointer Stars or Pointers, and extend it into the sky. This line will pass through the North Star. Before you go on to learn how to tell the time, you have one last thing to do. Draw another imaginary line straight up from the North Star. This line will mark midnight or the passing of 24 hours. Imogen and Marie are sisters who in the first book discovered a secret world and they return to this world called Yaroslav through the door in the tree to a whole new Yaroslav. The Big Dipper is a circumpolar object. Circumpolar objects are celestial objects that are always visible throughout the day and the year as seen from a specific latitude because they are close to the celestial pole of the observer’s hemisphere. Garl, remembering the prophecy given to him by the Oracle of Tides, will ask for a Flask of Borrowed Time. This will allow him to continue – but only for a limited period of time.

The characters themselves were wonderful, and I felt so attached to them all by the end! With all the feels of a Narnian/Wonderland adventure, this is the start of an enchanting new series! Imogen and her little sister Marie are not perfect children. They fight and yell, and are rude and obnoxious to each other, to their mum and to their grandmother. These sisters, who become the heroes of the story, are introduced as rather tiresome and disagreeable characters. The North Star, sometimes also called the Lodestar or Guiding Star, belongs to the constellation Ursa Minor. The North Star is the brightest star closest to the geographical and celestial North Pole. Because of this, it is visible from the Northern Hemisphere throughout the year. To a northern observer, the North Star appears motionless in the sky, with other stars in the sky revolving around it. It is this unique property of the pole star that makes it very helpful to navigators and for those who use the stars to tell time. Not a Constellation, but an Asterism Suddenly, they are trapped and it’s all Marie’s fault. But on the other side of the gate, there is a new world, different to theirs. A world where they meet Miro, a boy dressed in weird clothes, claiming he is the prince of this kingdom. A kingdom, where dangers lurk at night. And when danger threatens the kingdom and the crew are getting ready to save it, you start biting your nails. I watched their friendship grow and loved it. What I loved the most was watching Imogen get closer to her little sister Marie. That special sister bond was beautiful! Francesca Gibbons’s writing is so captivating, the world building phenomenal and the action suspenseful.

The writing style is fun and exciting, which I feel would be a plus point for young readers. The world-building is fabulous to say the least, and the characters are so so adorable and lovable. And to add an extra feather to the cap, it is illustrated by Chris Riddell. Well, what more can one ask for! To account for Daylight Saving Time (DST), add 1 hour to the calculation in the months that DST is in place at your location. The celestial poles are imaginary lines that trace the Earth’s rotation axis in space. The Earth has 2 celestial poles – the Northern Celestial Pole and the Southern Celestial Pole. These poles correspond to the North and the South Pole and therefore are inclined at an angle – around 23.4 degrees. Inside this room are three gaps for cog cubes and two switches, one on either side of the middle gap. Pull the switch on the left and the cube cog will open up from the ground. Next, pull the switch on the right to open a few obstacles in the puzzle area. Miro, Imogen and Marie embark on a quest which tests their courage and friendship, with each character learning important lessons about themselves which change their outlook and behaviours. They learn to take responsibility for their own actions. They identify values they expect others to demonstrate and they consider whether they are living those values themselves. By the end of the story, we see that these children have transformed in numerous ways, becoming much more likeable characters. We want them to succeed and find happiness.
