Description

The Extreme PRO® SSD works with PCs and Mac™ computers right out of the box and connects with USB Type C and Type A, 3 making it easy to start and keep working in almost any situation.

Game Longer

To be clear, what impresses most about the A2000’s speeds is not how high it can peak: we recorded a sequential read speed of 2,281MB/sec and a sequential write speed of 2,183MB/sec, both of which surpass Kingston’s own official figures but aren’t leading many tables more generally. Remember, however, that sequential speeds are rarely sustained in normal usage, and a lot of seemingly ultra-fast SSDs can slow to a crawl when faced with more trying transfers involving hundreds of non-sequentially stored files. The A2000 is special because, despite its lower price and apparently lower specs, it can maintain good speeds even in these much tougher conditions.

Of the models on offer, Samsung’s 860 Evo is our favourite. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s one of the fastest SATA drives available, with performance that hits the very limits of the SATA connection’s capabilities. In CrystalDiskMark’s sequential read test, the 860 Evo averaged an unbeatable 563MB/sec, with equally impressive sequential write speeds of 532MB/sec. It also achieved an average of 479MB/sec in the large-file read test, which again puts it in the very top rank of SATA drives. When it launched last year, the A2000’s amazing price-to-performance ratio instantly made it a top M.2 SSD, and even against the ravages of time – and newer, faster drives – it still stands out today.

Upgrade your game with super-fast SSD performance that lasts.

The small and light form factor of the Extreme PRO® SSD means it couldn’t be easier to keep your content with you whether you’re crossing town or traveling to an international location.

Now, to answer your question, powering up the drive containing that memory does not refresh it's content. You can keep it powered up continuously, the information stored in the transistors is NOT UPDATED OR REFRESHED by the power applied to device, unless you write again the information. This principle of refreshing the data from time to time is used in the RAM memory in computers, and losing power leads to losing data. Get fast NVMe™ solid state performance featuring 1050MB/s 2 read and 1000MB/s 2 write speeds in a portable, high-capacity drive that’s perfect for creating amazing content or capturing incredible footage. Flash memory based drives have now implemented a special "wear" algorithm, such that new data is written on cells that are not progammed with data, and so files are moved continuosly across the drive to mentain a balance of erase/program for all the cells, otherwise if a file is continuously written and modified on the same memory cells, these will wear after those few hundred of cycles and not be able to be used anymore. That is why a worn out SSD drive, that has reached a TBW spec, will not retain the information for long.SanDisk Extreme Pro leverages our lightning-fast in-house NVMe technology to dramatically increase transfer speeds to up to 1050 MB/s 6 and fully saturate the USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface. 6 So you’ll be able to edit right from the drive – providing full-frame editing with little interruption while saving you time and keeping your computer’s internal storage free. SanDisk’s Extreme v2 is a bit bigger than the original, measuring 101 x 52 x 9 mm and weighing in at under 63 grams. With a carabiner loop integrated and a durable silicone coating, the Extreme v2 features a functional, portable, and enduring design for those on the move in tough conditions. But unlike the Extreme Pro, the Extreme v2’s case and internal structure is made of plastic rather than rigid aluminum. This makes for a small and compact design that is also pretty light, but a little less resistant to twists and bending. Ruggedized design with a forged aluminum body to protect the SSD core and dissipate heat. Plus, a durable silicon rubber coating seeks to deliver higher impact resistance with its IP55 rating for water and dust resistance. 1
