If you are using a DSLR camera for your projects and have more extensive lens setups and more ambitious shooting environments, the Ronin-S is an excellent choice for you. Ronin-S is a must-have handheld gimbal for event filmmakers, content makers, and DSLR camera owners. In General, you can choose between handheld and car mount, change the user profile and pause the motors. The Ronin-S features a simple to use interface with only a few buttons and controls, keeping the operation straightforward and easy to use. We found that resting the handle extension on a thigh helped relieve the strain during lengthy sessions, but expect your arms to get a nice free workout while you’re shooting. If you’re shooting with heavier cameras, or are planning on mounting accessories such as an external monitor on the gimbal, you might be better off with a two-handed gimbal such as DJI’s own Ronin-M. With a weight of just 1.3 kg (2.86 lbs) and tested payload of 4.5 kg (10 lbs), DJI RS 2 offers the an exceptional weight-to-payload ratio. These are also marked upgrades from DJI Ronin-S’s weight of 1.84 kg (4 lbs) and tested payload of a 3.6 kg (8 lbs). This results in a more comfortable shooting experience and the ability to handle bigger and more advanced setups. For professional filmmakers and content producers, this DJI RS 2 upgrade gives you opportunity to use your best setups on the go.

At the base of the handle there are two female 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads for additional supports and tripods. An included mini tripod screws into this base, and it's very helpful when rigging your camera. The mini tripod can also act as a second handhold when folded. The folded mini-tripod provides a boom-like extension for overhead shots, low-to-the-ground shots, and generally provides a better handhold than the handle alone. While DJI RS 2 might look similar to its predecessor, there are some key design differences that you should be aware of. The two most notable DJI RS 2 upgrades are a 1.4-inch full-color touchscreen and a carbon-fiber construction. Carbon fiber not only decreases the overall device weight, it also allows for heavier payloads, up to 4.5 kg (10 lbs) tested. DJI RS 2 also has a more ergonomic overall look and feel, which rounds a gimbal that is lighter, supports heavier cameras, and is easy than ever to use.
