On 22 Sep 1914 he enlisted into the 3rd Battalion Canadian Infantry, 1st Central Ontario Regiment (regimental No. 9942). He fought as part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WW1. Thomas was born in Derriaghy, Ireland in 1892. He was the son of Robert Moulds and Mary Ireland.
