It seems like about 80% of the time, the first monster card to be drawn is the three diagonal one, or otherwise it’s the one with two separate rectangles. If one of the shapes has a gold coin next to it and you decide to draw in that shape then you’re going to get to color in one of the coins on your map sheet (we’ll get to this momentarily). For example, “monster” cards allow a player next to you to draw a “monster” pattern wherever they want on your map. Before you’ve even cracked open the box, you’re already met with Lucas Ribeiro’s amazing illustration. The erasers aren’t the greatest quality and smudge things into oblivion more so than making them just go away.

You are tasked with mapping the lands, and making sure that the Queen has her land demands satisfied the best. All of these decisions are good trade-offs, and there is rarely a "right" answer, at least when the game begins. As long as they can see the terrain cards and the scoring cards then you can have as many people play as you have sheets.Similarly, is it better to draw a terrain that will score earlier (taking immediate points) or making certain that the card that hasn't scored yet will score well later--and twice? You try to strategize your game plan up front based on the goal cards, but in the end you need to make tactical decisions based on what terrain cards come out. Cards are the only other component and they are a fine quality, although they are a bit thin and my fat fumbly fingers have marred a couple of them already trying to pry them off a solid surface.

These basic maps are fine--they change the game a little (although the B-side of the map changes it more, and thus I find it more interesting). At the start of the game, you draw four random scoring conditions and place them beneath cards A through D. Much like they did with Roll Player and creating characters, Jordy has managed to distill the thrill of crafting maps for your roleplaying group and made it into a game all unto itself. One side is a normal map with the reverse side containing a cavern in the middle, restricting your available space and thus making it more difficult. You have three seasons to work toward the objective in the D slot before it scores, whereas the objective in the B slot will be finished by the end of the second season.

To move onto the next season (assuming it is currently Spring, Summer or Fall), discard the current Season card and place the next one in the middle of the play area. This list has wallet-sized and wallet-friendly games; games for the first timer and for friends who have been playing for years. I like the new shapes and distribution of terrains fine, but they're more a step to the side than a step up or down.
