The product comes in a little glass bottle with a dropper. It is surprising to see a Vitamin C serum housed in a clear glass bottle, but it’s interesting to see also that it doesn’t yellow (a sure sign of product oxidization). If it wasn’t a stable product, you would also see oxidization and crusts forming around the opening of the bottle, where you unscrew daily. I’ve been using this for a few months, and I’ve not seen this happening. There is a bit of a chemical-type scent, but thankfully, no citrus scents that are usually found in products touting vitamin C. I know oranges have loads of Vitamin C – I don’t need to actually SMELL it to know it’s there 😛

Multiple Hyaluronic Acid Complexes: To hydrate and plump the skin at multiple levels for better hydration. The cornerstone of their philosophy focuses on bringing quality to the beauty industry and continuing their founder Brandon Truaxe’s goal for a “better world of beauty”. Deciem defines quality as being different, functional, beautiful, and sensibly priced.

Syn-Ake Peptide Complex: A synthetic peptide that targets wrinkles and laughter lines. It has a low molecular weight allowing it to penetrate the skin well.

The Ordinary’s product range has expanded to over 50 products and now includes color cosmetics ( foundations, primers, and a concealer) and a multi-peptide hair serum in addition to their skincare offerings. The Ordinary “Buffet” contains its own anti-agers that target fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging, including Argirelox Peptide Complex, Relistase Peptide Complex, and Syn-Ake Peptide Complex. These complexes target wrinkles, fine lines, skin firmness, and elasticity. Deciem does not test on animals and does not pay others to test on animals, and has been certified with the Leaping Bunny stamp of approval.Buffet” is formulated at a pH of 4.5-5.5, and is alcohol-free, silicone-free, nut-free, vegan, and gluten-free. “Buffet” is not oil-free, as it contains a small amount of PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil which acts as an emulsifier. We don’t how much of each ingredient is in each serum, though, so if we knew the concentrations, it would be a little easier to understand how effective these actives might be. Omorovicza uses another Vitamin C derivative, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, and pairs it with Niacinamide and fermented ingredients rather than the brightening ingredients used by Hylamide. The texture is also much more pleasant, like a light lotion. Price wise Hylamide is much more affordable though, and Omorovicza uses alcohol and fragrance in their formula, which is absolutely fine unless you are allergic, but something many of you ask about. (More info: Is alcohol in skincare dangerous?) In 2017 Deciem entered into a partnership with Estee Lauder Companies. In February of 2021, it was announced that Estee Lauder Companies (ELC) would increase its investment in Deciem from 29% to 76% over the next three years, allowing Deciem to take advantage of ELC’s global distribution.

C25 suits my oily skin and has caused no dryness or irritation. I’ve read a few reports that C25 can be drying. Even though it has an oily consistency, it’s not an oil and doesn’t have moisturising properties. While the ingredients list is short, it’s also rather chemical with its glycols and ethyls. It’s not one for those into natural skincare by any means. Deciem is the parent company of The Ordinary and they have several other beauty brands under their umbrella. The Ordinary is the most affordable skincare brand, Hylamide is mid range and NIOD is the most expensive. If the cheapy cheap The Ordinary can produce such life altering skin improvements, I’m bang up for trying the more expensive products. I Am THE Makeup Junkie Website:

I started all these gradually. I got my skin used to the Retinoid first ( Here’s my post about Retinoids). The Ordinary 2% Retinoid Serum hasn’t caused much in the way of irritation, but you may well find that you get some dryness and flaking when you start. Once the skin is cool, calm and collected you can introduce acids and vitamin C to take your skincare to the next level. Ethyl - Ascorbate Complex (25% Pure Ethyl-Ascorbic Acid) -Extraordinarily-stable complex from the Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C) family to encourage an even, smooth and glowing skin appearance. You can expect some stinging which subsides after a few minutes with all formulas, that is normal. The stronger it is, the worse the stinging. As it is a strong active, it is best used as close to the skin as possible to achieve maximum effect. The general rule of thumb is to use your chosen vitamin C after cleansing, toning and water serums, then apply moisturising creams and oils. Vitamin C Suspension 23% and HA Spheres 2% And here is where my main issue with this product occurs – the texture. It is an anhydrous solution, meaning it contains no water as solvent but Ethoxydiglycol and despite not containing any oils it feels very oily when applied. So much for those that call water a “filler ingredient” when talking about INCI lists… Hylamide does a range of boosters to go with its core skincare items. C25 Booster is meant to be used with other products. Any dermatologist will tell you, to get good results from skincare you will need to use several ingredients in good concentration.
