Description

Create dynamic sounds by controlling level, pitch, ADR, loop points, the granulator, effects and more using MIDI control surfaces and an internal LFO. When playing my modular, I send copy of my master signal to this and I can easily grab a loop and then cross-fade to this loop before changing what is going on in my modular. The sound quality is much better than the Pigtronix pedal and the loop customisation is easier. Well, 1010music heard our woes and they’re bringing us mercy with their latest product, the Bluebox. Paranormal Patroler wrote:No resonant filter that I know of, although to be honest I'd be far more interested in a decent parametric EQ and a full fledged compressor. Devices like these need EQ, Compression, Level, Panning, and Reverb. The rest I can outsource. But that's just what I'd expect. Preset mode grants access to the micro SD card for loading, saving and naming files. When you save a preset, it contains everything except the WAV files, which are referenced and reloaded from other directories on the card. A preset contains pad configurations, sequences and song information. There's no way to save kits, pads or sequences separately.

MIDI Seq channel (in TOOLS – MIDI in), this new method connects inbounds MIDI directly to the currently selected sequence. EQ'ing every single sample is impossible with external gear, but it's important for a good mix. As we are all well aware, most of us don't like using DAWs or avoid it if possible. Streaming support for long samples from the microSD card with a max sample size of 4 GB, which can be many hours In the forum, 1010music wants to know what the beta testers think of the update. Are there any improvements etc.? Please leave your input in the forum. The limit of 16 sample slots could be problem for some, along with the inability to load multiple presets or kits. An entire live set is unlikely to fit into 16 samples and 16 sequences, so if you're looking for a gigging sampler, make sure you have time to load songs on stage. It's also a bit weak on the sound design front, modulation capabilities are bizarrely limited, and the effects aren't anything to write home about.I’ve been leaning towards the MPC one because of the vocal processing and the ability to utilize the midi/audio interfaces through usb. Unfortunately I don’t have either of those, and the Akai force(used) is about the same price, also has midi thru and XLR inputs. Additionally the clip based workflow seems interesting

So for some, this is going to be a no-brainer. Maybe you just need a way to mix your live jams and record the results for further explorations elsewhere. Maybe you don’t like DAWs. Or you’re just curious. Desk space is tight but you take mixing and recording seriously. From the sample section, you also access deeper editing functions such as an envelope per sound, a filter, start- and end-points for loops, time-stretch parameters, and so on. The shaping is more geared for sculpting your sample to work in a mix, and less about creative effects. The filter acts like an EQ that blends between states. The lower you go, the deeper the thuds and greater the cutoff. Aim high, and you’ll lose the rumbling deep ends and position your sample in the cleaner forefront. The amp envelope is used to trim what’s already there, so if your bass sound doesn’t snap on its own, don’t expect the decay, sustain, and release to fix that for you. Just watch your source material, and these tweaks will serve you well for their intended purpose. One very impressive update is the granular option that 1010 threw in as I was writing this. With a neat combination of additional features for granular synthesis, you got access to parameters that had me tearing up drum loops like I was the coolest thing from Iceland since last winter. With just an extra screen for granular, you’d think that it’s too barren to serve the purpose. It’s a powerful addition to using external effects in a context where you not only mix, but can record the results as well. If you know of any other palm-sized hardware mixer that can do this, let me know. Then, there’s the master EQ which now allows you with four bands to hone your mix into something that can compete with any digital competitor. It’s a fantastic way to get the mix ready for the club or just prepare it for final mastering, if you want to make sure it’s as clean as can be on its own, before you take it to a more high end context.Further, they have redone the MIDI output section. This is now handled entirely by the SEQ cells. Each one can have its own individual MIDI output channel. The 4 layers per sequence will all use the same MIDI output channel. For me the main issue is the sequencer. While the screen is good (as far as screens go), I don't like tapping in sequences as I have to manually adjust the velocities afterwards to add dynamism. The step sequencing screen is very fiddly and I find editing to be a pain, especially as the sequencing lanes are so small and the different shades of grey are hard to see. Simple granular synthesis. We built this enhancement in response to requests for loop crossfading--it takes the idea much further. Look for a new option in the Sample/Clip/Slicer drop down menu. Granular mode works as an extension to sample mode. You can define the pitch, start, stop, length, loop mode, etc. You also get these parameters per voice: Have to involve external effects in a send/return loop as the onboard effects are limited and mostly useless Enhanced Delay algorithm with integrated band-pass filter and the ability to play just a single echo

I think that 1010 really missed the mark with this thing by marketing it as a "compact sampling workstation." They really should market it as it was originally intended, which is as a device to use WITH a modular system to capture ideas on the fly. and loop them. While it can be sequenced externally, this is not why I bought it. It also has a looper function but I have other devices for that too. I bought this as a portable groovebox (with a powerbank) and because of the interface, I don't find it inspiring. Copy and paste of PADS. From the PADS screen, turn the lower right knob to the right as you will see a new control panel.
