I've never encountered an iris that had a smell, but I guess this recreation of green and soapy notes comes close enough. Beware that the "iris" so many reviews mention as a prominent note is not the root, but an approximation of what the flower smells like. The bottle is beautiful with gold, white , pink and I pull it out of my handbag with a flourish and anticipation. It is one of those fragrances that you notice when you are within distance of someone like Dahlia Noir or the Bvlgaris but doing just as hard a job.

Elizabeth Arden True Love is a beautiful blend of fruity and floral notes including top notes of Peach, Freesia, Apricot and green notes, heart notes of Iris, Orris Root, Jasmine, Heliotrope and Lily of the Valley and Rose and base notes of Cedar, Amber, Sandalwood and Vanilla. Of course the quality isn't as high as a Guerlain - please don't think I'm saying it's a substitute - but I respect the craft behind it and think it's really good for an offering at the low end of the market. One thing to add, (though not a bad thing for me), I felt the fragrance was very light, the opposite of ‘heady’ - so some might it too weak, or not lasting long.
