We're confident that after experiencing the joys of natural foot freedom, your feet won't want to go back to 'normal' shoes. Once the shoe is worn in the foot has ample room to splay and move without the shoe inhibiting this.

The distinctive texture and multi-colour material is apparently made from harmful algal blooms, not only cleaning up the area it is harvested, but also being an alternative to synthetic and petrochemical EVA foam. Overall, the Vivobarefoot Primus Trail II FG is a pretty good trail-focused barefoot shoe, but there are a few cons worth mentioning about this model. I’d say size a little bit up, but I personally like a tight shoe – as long as your toes aren’t touching the end you’re good. The first thing to like about the Primus Trail II FG is that it provides adequate foot protection on different types of trails.

The Vivobarefoot Primus Trail FG II is the specific trail running shoe from the British minimal shoe pioneers. I’d suggest going up a half size in the Trail as it runs a little shorter compared to the Primus Lite and Geo Racer!

stack height on this zero-drop shoe, providing ample traction whether you're taking them out for a run on the road or trail. During a challenging 50km trail run like The Guzzler I felt the Primus Trail gave me ample support and allowed me to run over five hours feeling supported and performing well. That all being said, I like this shoe for more casual hikes and trail runs where I’m not super concerned about the terrain I’ll be going over. This review differs slightly than previous reviews on this site due to the amount of mileage of completed in this footwear. The Primus Trail III All Weather Firm Ground is a water-resistant evolution of the Primus Trail FG: our original, best-selling trail-running sneaker. Furthermore, it’s made with a lightweight and flexible upper mesh, encouraging more natural movement. The overall design is simple and lightweight, with a thin, flexible upper made with a majority of mesh for a naturally lightweight feeling and improved breathability.

After some time in the shoes this feeling of the upper did loosen as the upper material stretched with use. They have great traction on most types of ground (except mud, deep snow, etc) and work great as barefoot shoes for MTB. There are not many significant updates when comparing the Primus Trail II All Weather with the Primus Trail II FG . The tongue is longer than it needs to be, causing irritation, and not everyone (our man included) is a fan of the quick-lace system, which can’t cope well with subtle adjustments and doesn’t allow for easy tidying of extra lace.I personally think this is a good thing because it adds to this shoe’s ability to protect the feet and not beat them up while also giving you enough to simulate being barefoot. The Vivobarefoot Primus Trail II FG shoe might look innocuous to the casual glance, but there's a multitude of ingenuity concealed in this design. Made using a recycled all-weather mesh textile to create high-performance footwear that's at home in colder conditions on untouched terrain. While it may not feel comfortable during the extreme heat or winter, it keeps your feet dry during rainy weather or cool during the typical sunny day. Made from a recycled, water repellent textile and animal-free materials, the Primus Trail is our durable and flexible trail runner, designed to build foot strength and let you move naturally in nature.

What makes the shoes unique is their adaptability to all types of weather conditions, whether hot or cold. Though this results in more expensive products for now, companies producing according to standards set by B Corp are at least striving to create positive change within their industries. Over the course of my testing, I tried to use the Vivobarefoot Primus Trail II FG on a variety of trails and hikes to help contextualize where they perform the best and where they fall short.Perhaps the coolest part in terms of direct impact is Vivobarefoot's Revivo program, which helps keep shoes out of the landfill by opening up a repair and reconditioning program for used shoes. Our finest reconditioned footwear is ‘like new’, showing very few signs of wear and will be ready for a newpair of feet. While it may not flex with the contours of your foot and the terrain, the Primus Trail II FG is well-designed to propel you through your run. However, the moment you hit loose terrain on steeper grades, you’ll start to notice the lugs falling short. A reinforced plastic rib forms a triangle on either side of the foot, which provides a solid anchor point for the laces, and flows around into a smaller triangle at the heel, creating stiffness but with minimal weight.
