Wookieepedia: The Star Wars Wiki is an online encyclopedia for information about the Star Wars universe [1]—including information on all the films, the books, as well as Clone Wars, The Clone Wars and its introductory film, Rebels, the Star Wars Expanded Universe, and any upcoming Star Wars material. It is a wiki focused on the Star Wars universe with some articles reaching up to 60,000 words, [2] and is written almost entirely from an in-universe perspective. The name is a portmanteau of Wookiee and encyclopedia, a pun on the name of Wikipedia. The logo, too, is a visual pun showing the incomplete second Death Star as opposed to Wikipedia's incomplete " jigsaw logo". Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License and the GFDL; additional terms may apply. See Terms of Use for details. The latest edition of this beloved title has been comprehensively updated to include new characters from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and both seasons of Star Wars: The Mandalorian .

that Shadda silk armbands and kerchiefs became popular among the galactic elite as expressions of concern for the survival of the Shadda-Bi-Borans? After the Star Wars Expanded Universe was declared non- canonical to the future works and rebranded as Star Wars Legends in April 2014, Wookieepedia implemented separate "Canon" and "Legends" tabs for subjects that appeared both before and after the continuity reboot. "Legends" tab only includes information from sources released prior to the 2014 reboot, while "Canon" tab contains information from works published from 2015 onwards, including the movies released under The Walt Disney Company. An exception to this rule was made for the content of the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG, which has seen several expansions after 2015 but is still considered "Legends". [7] Both tabs include information from Episodes I-VI and The Clone Wars TV series. Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.Sansweet later announced in Star Wars Insider 87 (May/June 2006) that work had begun on an updated version of his Star Wars Encyclopedia. [6] As a bonus for the intensive researcher, this massive reference includes the complete timeline of major events in Star Wars history. As of August 2023 [update], the English-language version of the wiki contains over 185,000 articles, [5] making it the seventh-largest [6] Wikia in terms of article count, ahead of other wikis such as Memory Alpha and WoWWiki. Wikia hosts Star Wars wikis in many other languages, and Wookieepedia also coordinates its efforts with the German language wiki called Jedipedia.net and the Polish language Biblioteka Ossus. The Star Wars universe, much like our own, is constantly expanding. In the ten years since the publication of the Star Wars Encyclopedia , a lot has happened in that galaxy far, far away: four new feature films, a host of official original novels, comics, video games, and more. Now, thirty years of information on all things Star Wars —ranging from science and technology to history and geography, culture and biography to ecology and cosmology—has been supplemented with an entire decade's worth of all-new material. Abundantly illustrated with full-color artwork and photos, and now in a new three-volume addition to accommodate its wealth of detailed entries, the Star Wars Encyclopedia encompasses the full measure of George Lucas's creation. Contents [ ] Sansweet again confirmed a second Encyclopedia is on its way at his "Star Wars Spectacular" presentation at ComicCon on July 15, 2005. He explained that he and Lucas Licensing were still in the process of deciding how to go about writing a new Encyclopedia. He gave an example of the process, saying that they were trying to decide whether to make the new book a second volume or an entirely new Encyclopedia. In April 2008, Random House added an entry on The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia; this was subsequently reported by Club Jade. [8] Continuity [ ]During a January 28, 2004 Hyperspace celebrity chat, it was Steve Sansweet's opinion that there would be a updated edition to the Star Wars Encyclopedia. [3] To learn the answers to these questions and more, look no further than Star Wars: Character Encyclopedia, Updated and Expanded Edition . Written by Star Wars experts, the book is full of fun facts and intriguing information that's guaranteed to enthrall fans of all ages. The Star Wars Encyclopedia is a 1998 reference book published by Del Rey Books and written by Stephen J. Sansweet, the director of content management at Lucasfilm Ltd. and science fiction author. It was intended to bring together the wealth of information about the Star Wars universe which had up until that point been published in separate sources, and according to Sansweet was based upon the second edition of the Guide to the Star Wars Universe and first generation of the Essential Guide books. From science and technology to history and geography; from culture and biography to ecology and cosmology; from "abo" and "Abrax" to "zwil" and "Zirtran's Anchor," this all-encompassing, fully illustrated, alphabetical reference covers all the elements which have developed and expanded the Star Wars universe, creating a rich and diverse history that spans millennia. Its scope ranges from the renowned and infamous ("Luke Skywalker," "Darth Vader") to the obscure and enigmatic ("Tnun Bdu"); from the history of the Sith Wars to the Galactic Civil War that pit the Rebel Alliance against the Empire. It introduces us to the natives and customs of planets as diverse as Tatooine and Dagobah, and even to the secrets and beliefs of the Jedi Knights. Actors in the Star Wars franchise have used Wookieepedia to have a better understanding of the Star Wars universe and better portray their characters, including Felicity Jones who portrayed Jyn Erso in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story [15] and Alden Ehrenreich who portrayed young Han Solo in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story.
