Description

The Minelab X-Terra Pro is a new metal detector introduced in February 2023. It is a fully submersible VLF metal detector aimed primarily at coin, jewelry, relic, gold nugget, and beach detecting. The X-Terra Pro is basically a Minelab Equinox without the simultaneous multifrequency option. Instead, it is a switchable frequency device, allowing the user to choose to run one of several single frequency options. A large difference between this and the old X-Terra series is the ability to do this with a single coil, just the push of a button. The X-Terra Pro is also fully submersible to 16 feet unlike previous X-Terra models. The X-Terra Pro is coil compatible with both the Minelab Equinox and Vanquish series detectors, meaning it actually has a better coil coil selection than either of those options. Minelab has been quite busy of late. The launch of the Manticore along with the Equinox 700 and 900 has been grabbing the headlines. But what of other machines in the range? At the entry-level, there is the GoFind, Vanquish 340, 440 and 540. The Equinox 600 sits in the mid-range, along with the new Equinox 700. The higher end begins with the new Equinox 900 and finishes with the Manticore. The CTX3030 is still a current machine but for all intents and purposes, it has been superseded by the Manticore. If you want the newest technology, in an easy-to-use, waterproof detector, then grab the X-Terra Pro today. The X-terra Pro's advanced switchable frequency technology is one of its standout features. Unlike other metal detectors that operate on a single frequency, it appears that the X-terra Pro allows the user to switch between different frequencies giving it the ability to detect a wider range of metals with greater precision as the user switches between different frequency modes. This is different from their multi-frequency machines like the Vanquish (

We think it’s the coolest looking machine around the price and its performance is absolutely brilliant. Which would be better for detecting, a Vanquish or one of these, leaving out all the physical differences?

but also a great specialised option to add to a detectorists tool-kit for those who want a modern, fun beach detector.

X-TERRA PRO TECH SPECS

The X-Terra Pro looks amazing, with its ‘camo green’ coloured control box and arm cup, and a shape which looks like a hybrid between the Minelab Equinox and the Minelab Vanquish. We think it’s the coolest looking machine around the price and its performance is absolutely brilliant. Nokta are producing some great machines and are increasing their market share. Maybe Minelab didn’t like this and lauched the XTerra Pro deliberately to hobble sales of the Simplex+……who knows! Coils came in a low frequency 3KHz variety, a mid frequency 7.5KHz and a high frequency 18KHz variety. This meant that depending on the particular targets you were hunting for, you could maximise your time. As technology advanced, metal detector manufacturers began to release machines that had the ability to switch operating frequencies via a button on the control box rather than having to change a coil.

LOUD AND CLEAR AUDIO – Enjoy crystal-clear audio with In-Built Speaker (included) or lightning-fast Low Latency Wireless Headphones, Wired Headphones, and Waterproof Headphones (accessories). The Minelab X-Terra Pro has several great features, like high-resolution target ID, multi-tone audio, and excellent ground balancing that you wouldn't necessarily expect to get in a metal detector at this price point. It’s the perfect machine for starting your detecting adventures with if you are brand-new to the hobby, Please note all delivery costs stated below include VAT for the UK, all other destinations exclude VAT** United Kingdom - Mainland Minelab have re-vamped the old X-Terra series to release a single, cutting-edge switchable, single-frequency detector.Minelab therefore had the idea of a metal detector being able to change its frequency by swapping its coil. Thus the XTerra was born! As with any other Minelab machine, the X-Terra Pro functions brilliantly on land, but it’s the beach where this machine is really making waves (see what we did there). Driven by the enhanced PRO-SWITCH™ engine, X-TERRA PRO by Minelab gives you the power to switch frequencies. Detect targets deep anywhere, in any conditions — there’s deep and then there’s Minelab deep. Factory Items (included): What other options might you have?…..well, as mentioned at the top of this article, Minelab also manufacture the “Vanquish” range which consist of the 340, 440 and 540.

Target Identification (TID): 119 segment notch discrimination: Ferrous: -19 to 0 I Non-ferrous: 1 to 99 Minelab offer their 3-year warranty on the X-TERRA PRO, which covers the control box and coil, whereas, Simplex only offer 2 years. We generally find both of these brands to be reliable and hope that you shouldn’t need any repairs within this time, but it’s worth noting. My take is that XTerra Pro and Vanquish are missing features that would benefit the other. I know I'm considered a detector snob, or whatever, but I consider the omissions as flaws, despite the great features both detectors bring to the table. And, yes, I know that when you add these features, you start moving the detectors to the Equinox low end, which obviates ML's intended hook and upsell strategy. But to me the omitted features just seem like random omissions, at least in the case of Vanquish and ground balance, that are almost essential features, done just to justify lower price points. But even without Multi-IQ, the Xterra appears to be the most well rounded value of the two and if I was given the choice to use either detector, it would probably be Xterra as it has most of the features of my preferred detector (Deus) before the Nox came along. Enjoy the crystal-clear audio with its included In-Built Speakeror choose from additional accessories such aslightning-fast Low Latency Wireless Headphones, Wired Headphones, and Waterproof Headphones. CONSTRUCTION As well as superb build quality, it ships with a 12 inch DD coil which Minelab have named the “V12”.

Certainly, there are situations where one might want to use a single frequency rather than rely solely on simultaneous multi-frequency. But this feature is already available in the Equinox range all be it at a fairly high price point. Detect Modes and operating frequency can be instantly changed at the push of a button for a dynamic and uninterrupted detecting experience.
