Clynelish 22 yo 1995/2018 (54.1%, Murray McDavid, Mission Gold for SCSM China, bourbon hogshead, cask #10186, 194 bottles) - 210519 Clynelish 18 yo 1996/2015 (54.4%, Signatory Vintage, refill sherry butt, cask #6516, 505 bottles) - 190423

Clynelish 8 yo 2011/2020 (58%, Scotch Malt Whisky Society, 26-145, 2nd fill barrel, ‘Mood-lifting sanctuary’, 239 barrels) - 011220 This one is very true to the Clynelish style: fresh, appetizing, and very drinkable. Notes of brine, fruit (lemon-lime), and vanilla-accented malt, are the foundation of this whisky. Delicate seaweed, peat, exotic pepper and a hint of citrus rind bitterness entertain the palate throughout, all the way to its appetizingly briny, seaweed-tinged finish. Perhaps the definitive aperitif whisky." A nose that is fragrant, spicy and complex, with candle wax, malt and a whiff of smoke. Notably smooth in the mouth, with honey and contrasting citric notes, plus spicy peat, before a brine and tropical fruit finish." It’s especially the waxiness that make Clynelish stand apart. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, just get your hands on a bottle of Clynelish 14 Years (it’s worth it), and you’ll recognise the flavour profile I’m referencing soon enough. It’s a characteristic that seems to have been much more prevalent in earlier eras, but something you’ll rarely encounter in modern single malts, Clynelish being one of the few exceptions. Clynelish 24 yo 1995/2019 (49.6%, The Whisky Cask Company, sherry butt, cask #8655, 590 bottles) - 021220Distilled in Sutherland 24 yo 1996/2020 (47.2%, Thompson Bros, refill hogshead, 300 bottles) - 021220 On the nose I get mandarin and fruits in general. On the palate it's crisp, quite a bit oak and little bit of peppery fell. Finish is medium lond with nice creamy feel to it. Clynelish 31 yo 1972/2004 (57.8%, Scotch Malt Whisky Society, #26.33, 'friar's baslam and cigar boxes') - 190312

Clynelish 23 yo 1995/2018 (54.5%, Signatory Vintage, refill sherry butt, cask #8674, 266 bottles) - 140219 Distilled in Sutherland 9 yo 2010/2019 (51.3%, Thompson Bros., refill American oak barrel, 320 bottles) - 210220 Clynelish 18 yo 1996/2015 (55.5%, Signatory Vintage for The Whisky Exchange, refill sherry, cask #6509, 606 bottles) - 110815

Clynelish 24 yo 1988/2013 (48.8%, Alexander, SwissLink 4, refill bourbon hogshead, cask #4550) - 160713 Clynelish 24 yo 1996/2020 (54.9%, Whisky Nerds, bourbon hogshead, cask #WN001, 282 bottles) - 250521- by Angus - 090422 Clynelish 22 yo 1997/2020 ‘Tropical Scented candle’ (49.8%, Wemyss Malts, hogshead, 236 bottles) - 240820 I get a really sweet sour note, Think sour strawberry candies. Jelly strips with sour sugar sprinkles. There is a tiny citrus tang that accompanies and succumbs to the sour sweetness. Sugar powdered marshmallows. It is a really sugary nose.

Taste: Gentle citrus and upon opening the mouth an immediate and delightful fire warming the entire mouth and tongue. Orange seems to be the noticeable theme, with subtle lemon zest. Fresh and crisp, grassy. I am reminded of lemon leaves. Clynelish 21 yo 1997/2018 (54.7%, Douglas Laing, Xtra Old Particular, hogshead, cask #12781, 309 bottles) - 241219

This regime would help to produce a fruity spirit were it not for what happens in the feints receiver. In any distillery there is a natural precipitation of oils in this tank which would normally be removed during the distillery’s annual silent season when the plant is fully cleaned. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. Clynelish 36 yo (47.1%, The Single Malts of Scotland for The Whisky Show Old & Rare, Director’s Cut, 2020) - 210220 - by Angus - 160520
