Description

As with all smaller cordless lawn mowers the grass box is not going to hold as much grass cuttings as its larger counterparts, however 30 litres is a comparable for a mower of this size. 30 Litres allows longer periods of use without needing to empty grass clippings as often. WORX batteries are covered by a 1 Year Limited Consumer Warranty and are not eligible for warranty extension. It’s no secret that a lot of lawn mowers are bulky and difficult to handle but this one is something of a dream especially when you take into consideration the lightweight design which makes moving it around nothing short of a delight. But is this a good option for your average gardener? Well, yes, in short, it is. Not only does it give you a great grass capacity which means that you’re not emptying the box every few minutes, but it also has many other features that make this practically perfect. Also, metal blades are sharper with more cutting power for the most satisfactory result. You can sharpen the blade, unlike a plastic blade, so that you can cut effectively for a tidier finish.

As mentioned above the charge to cut ratio is good and is an aspect which beats its competition, but in saying that the mowing/charging time doesn’t directly affect you, after all the lawn will still be getting mowed! WORX introduced the two 20v batteries in 2018 to enable compatibility with their other cordless power tools of which there are 40 in the range. The two WORX batteries can be charged at the same time and the WORX WG779E.2 comes with an eco mode for lighter cuts, reducing the power and extending the cutting time. There are six height positions to choose from, with the minimum being 20 millimetres while the highest is 70 millimetres. You can start at a higher setting and go down as you progress so that small grass will not miss a piece of the action. WORX WG779E.2 Cutting Diameter

Flymo PowerVac 3000 Review: Zero Hot Air

If you’re looking for a cordless lawn mower that offers the ability to create stripes on the lawn then the WORX WG743E.1, unfortunately, won’t cut it. However, if this is the only downfall, we’re confident that it isn’t the end of the world. The battery power indicator will give you a clear idea of how much juice you have left, so that you’ll never run out unexpectedly. This WORX WG779E.2 review is not complete if we don’t mention its cutting diameter. The cutting diameter of this machine stands at 34 centimetres, making it ideal for lawns with medium size. That is why it is perfect for cutting narrow strips in your garden. Grass Box As we have mentioned, the WORX WG743E.1 features a hefty cutting width of 40cm which makes it ideal for larger lawned areas, but will make just as easy work of a smaller lawn.

The WG779E.2 is relatively lightweight at 12kg, and while there are lighter models designed for small gardens, few have the same power and runtime. So, the mower is easy enough to move across lawns, even if the grass is denser, with the large wheels offering good stability and manoeuvrability. I expected it to panic when it came to longer grass or wilder patches but the WG730E surprised me by making headway through all but the roughest or wettest stuff. What’s more, there are some advantages to its size, as I was able to get closer to hard surfaces such as fences or house walls, or move it into spaces near to shrubs where it’s normally hard to fit a larger mower.

Portable v Inflatable Ice Baths: Best Picks

The rotary blades are made from steel which is an extremely durable metal so you know that, even if you run into an unexpected obstacle, you’re not running the risk of causing any significant damage. Height adjustments a single lever lets you set the height you want to cut your lawn, depending on the season or preference Does this make it more practical compared to its closest competition? Well, yes I think it does for people with smaller lawns and limited space for storage. There is also a very handy and well positioned large central handle that makes carrying the 13 kg mower to the garage or shed very easy.

Furthermore, the addition of the carry handle means that moving the mower from one end of the garden to the other is effortless. I personally use the WORX WG779E.2 and have a similar sized lawn. I have had no issues and it cuts well, is lightweight and is such great value for money. Another great feature of this mower is an easy to see battery gauge on the top of the mower; you would think this is standard with all cordless mowers, however, this is not the case. Well done WORX for including this! One of the most notable things about the WORX WG743E.1 is the generous grass collection box which holds up to 45 litres. But where power is concerned, there’s nothing quite as impressive as the super-fast dual charger that’s included in the box. With a maximum charge time of just one hour, no time is wasted. The grass box on the WORX WG779E.2 is very easy to remove by simply lifting the flap and unhooking. The grass clippings empty from the box with no obstructions. This is a hard topped collection box with a carry handle at the top. What I really like about the WORX WG779E.2 is the addition of a removable safety key that disables the lawn mower to help prevent accidental starting. This is a nice feature not found on similar cordless mowers that gives peace of mind around children. The key has a cord that is attached to the handle so making it almost impossible to misplace. The handle folds away for easy storage so it won’t end up taking up masses of space in your shed or outbuilding. Furthermore there are two feet at the rear of the mower allowing you to store this product vertically, saving even more space. The WG779E.2 is fitted with a dual battery system, using two 20V 2Ah lithium batteries to produce 40V of cutting power. This translates to around 30 minutes of runtime, making the for smaller gardens with lawns up to 200m2, while there is a two hour charge time, which is on the longer side.

After giving the WORX WG779E.2 cordless lawn mower a thorough testing on my lawn, I’m well impressed with its performance. This mower is lightweight yet robust, making it a breeze to manoeuvre around landscaping and use for the full mowing session. Its build quality feels rather sturdy for the price point. Furthermore, the WORX WG743E.1 boasts an edging ability that truly is second to none – never again will you have portions of uncut grass around the perimeter of the lawn. You can easily change the cutting height from two centimetres up to seven centimetres, using a handle by the front wheels. My lawn was a little overgrown before the first use, so to avoid battling with long grass, I set the mower to it's highest length to trim it ahead of trying a lower grade. This was unnecessary based on use since – the mower makes light work of even dense couch grass and weeds that have been left to run wild. Also the power system is completely electric so it produces zero emissions and works extremely quietly. Which is quieter? Well there’s not much between them but I would say that the WORX is slightly quieter due to the “Mute technology” that WORX claim makes their mower barely audible from 10 metres.
