Description

The manufacturer recommends that you shouldn’t run a single burn for longer than 2 minutes, if possible. Performance drops off after the 2-minute mark because of fluid dynamics inside the gas canister. This is the Grillblazer Su-V Grill gun [in action](https://youtu.be/0XAJ_WJYpIk?t=15) (not my video) but the shortest and most on topic I could find. They SV a 40oz bone in Ribeye at 135F.

The Su-V gun is compatible with any propane fuel container with a CGA600 connection. Such canisters are sold at camping stores everywhere and at big box retailers like Home Depot and Walmart. A – You’ll have to obey your local and state government restrictions on outdoor burning. The Su-VGun is not a flamethrower, so is not regulated. We have had high-powered weed torches around for decades and the lobbyist haven’t shut them down yet, so these won’t be any different. (Pssst! Su-VGuns are not guns… they just look like them, just like paintball guns, Airsoft guns, Nerf gun, water guns, cap guns, etc.) Q – Will it hurt a glass dish if I want to use it to flame a dessert or do I have to use cast iron? A – I have a GrillGun by the grill and a Su-VGun in the kitchen, because I use them both a lot. However, it’s simple to disconnect the GrillGun that I keep by the grill and use it elsewhere. I just like to have two torches so I don’t ever have to go looking for one when I need it.

One BTU is the heat needed to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. Most home gas stoves are rated between 1k-18k BTU, although some models slightly exceed that.

Q – Can I change the fitting on the adapter hose and run the Su-VGun on the natural gas that I have at my house? The TS8000 is usually priced at about half of the Su-V Gun, but the base model doesn’t include any diffuser baffling. You’d need to add a Searzall attachment, which is only compatible with the TS8000, to achieve the same level of flame efficiency for mitigation against torch taste. A – The Su-VGun is designed to be easy to disconnect from and reconnect to its fuel source. If you disconnect it, and store the fuel and torch separately, you discourage its accidental use by a child or unknowledgeable person. You can adjust the intensity of the flame by turning the red knob further left for more flame, and turning it to the right to turn it off by stopping the flow of gas. The Su-VGun is easy to hold in the hand, and it accepts multiple types of fuel. Most of the time, I’ll use a 1 pound propane canister that screws into the bottom of the gun. They’re easy to find at most hardware stores, and they last for at least 10 cooks before they run out in my experience. A – The entire sparking mechanism is designed never to fail, so the only thing that might go wrong is that you could get debris in the nozzle from not keeping the Gas Connector out of the dirt when it is disconnected from its fuel source. If this happens, the gas nozzle is replaceable with a servicing kit available at GrillBlazer.com The Su-VGun is shipped with a vinyl cover for the Gas Connector.

Once the torch is lit and the safety is compressed, you can control the flame intensity by adjusting the pressure applied to the trigger. Today I want to show you my favorite way to finish a protein once it comes out of the water at 130°. It’s called the Su-VGun, and it’s the little brother of the larger GrillGun that we use all the time to light our firepits, pizza ovens, and grills. Su-VGun Specifications The gun-like design of this torch is done more for function than fashion. In my experience, most people find it intuitive to operate.

Never before has lighting your charcoal been so fast and so fun!

A – Yes, but for shorter spurts, Keep your propane bottles in a safe warm indoors location at room temperature and you’ll have no problems.

Q – Why does the Su-VGun have that disk with the hole in it in the front of the fire bell and the GrillGun doesn’t? The device is sold with a “torch stand” that makes it easy to set upright once you’re done using it. It prevents topples and, therefore, the chance of some bobbles and accidental burns. Noise Level Some people use this torch in combination with a smoker or grill. And, in a pinch, you may be able to employ it for a light welding job. Although I certainly wouldn’t. How Does the SU-V Gun Compare with Other Torches? To get the propane gas flowing, you turn the red knob to the left and you’ll hear the gas begin to flow. Once you can hear it moving just a little bit, you pull the trigger to ignite and a small blue flame will appear. However, the torch gun does have a safety valve that stops propane from flowing if you do happen to lay it down or tilt it too far where you’d get liquid propane coming out of the device.

SEE WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

The Su-V kitchen torch is essentially a small flamethrower that attaches to a propane take. It’s shaped like a pistol with an extended pipe-like barrel. Although a big tank is heavier to lift and takes up more storage space, you can get a longer run time and a better cost per use by working with the adapter. Both products can pump out a flame temperature over 3,000 F, and the TS8000 can get all the way to 3,650 F if you use a MAP-Pro fuel cylinder. Either way, it’s more than enough power to generate a fast Maillard reaction and (moreso) caramelization. Q – When I pull the Handle Trigger, the fuel flows from the Su-VGun even though the valve is shut off. Is this normal? There are a number of gas flow refinements that are not obvious that make the two substantially different. They all have to do with the desire to implements a cleaner, shorter, hotter flame so it can be used indoors in closer proximity to your meat that you are searing. You simply wouldn't want a 21-inch barrel and a 2-foot flame, searing meat on your kitchen counter.
