The Rokit 8 immediately makes itself known with a fully covered 8-inch Kevlar cone woofer and a 1-inch Kevlar dome tweeter. The woofer works by building up the lower-end frequencies (resulting in a stronger low-end). KRK ROKIT monitors are among the most popular on the market, but it is fair to say that former ranges have been the subject of quite a lot of debate in audio communities. They look impressive, and they are marketed well, but some of the incarnations of their speakers have historically left a little to be desired when it comes to using them in the studio or as DJ monitors. Meanwhile, the speaker uses an LCD screen to present any information you’ll need while being fully navigable with the volume control dial. Yes I know these speakers would have been a bit big for that application but I wanted larger speakers for a better bass response at low volumes. The hiss is audible till about a 2 meters away.

Because these are my first good speakers, I cannot compare with similar speakers from other companies. However, the step up from regular random speakers/subwoofer is immense and really worth expense.

We found that these monitors had a way of reducing some of the listening fatigue many producers experience. Sessions of four or five hours were no huge problem mixing on these speakers, probably in no small part due to the balance of the tone. The bass frequencies aren’t constantly hammering away at your eardrums. If the KRK's size is too enormous, the JBL 305P MkII is a decent alternative. The tiny 5-inch woofer nevertheless delivers a deep bass. No, it doesn’t come with a sub or anything, however, the bass is so impressive, that you won’t need one.

I found allot of controversy, but I’ve decided to get them and decide for my self.I’m not saying that I expected a laundry list of different ports and connection points to play with. However, the fact that it only has a single entryway, and nothing else, definitely takes a bit of the wind out of these largely impressive sails. Yes, sounding good is the most important, however, you’re going to be looking at your speakers just as often as you’ll be hearing from them.

One important issue to mention is that the RP8 is designed for a larger room, or fully isolated, sound proofed area. I am returning these because of the high noise. I used to use a pair of bookshelf speakers hooked up to a 1980's hifi amp and the noise was less than this set of monitors. This is more than enough for most studio uses and even as DJ monitors. I did have to return these once as I blew one speaker out. I am not sure if it was a manufacturer's defect or my own error, but Guitar Center has a generous 30 day no questions asked return policy. Upon buying my second pair I opted for the Pro Coverage which extends my warranty to a few years.Rather than focusing on cutting corners and reducing costs in any way they could, the developers over at KRK Systems decided to put together an awesome powered studio monitor working at much reduced operating temperatures improving audio integrity even further. As far as studio monitors go, this is where the quality starts to jump pretty dramatically and there are a lot fewer duds you have to deal with. On a brighter note they do sound great and the hissing is almost not audible when playing any noise trough them. if you wanted a quiet pair of speakers this is not it. Large 8" speaker goes really low and you can not only hear but feel the bass. They do not lose the balance when playing audio loudly, home parties will be taken to next level (joke, but if you wanted to, neighbours will enjoy music as well) Higher-grade controllers won’t be an issue immediately connecting to the Rokit 8. Smaller and cheaper controllers, on the other hand, will almost exclusively be RCA-bound. This means you’ll need to invest in a good set of conversion cables if you want to listen to them. Tuning Options The sound quality of the KRK Rokit 8 G4 is amazing. As with many speakers, they will need to be broken in before they are at their optimum. The balance is acceptable. The low end is a little more prominent, as is typical with KRK. If you don't want to add a subwoofer to your setup, this is ideal. However, it is not suitable for flat response listening. The highs are sharp and clear. Mids are also enjoyable.
