What should've taken part during the travel to Miklagrad instead happens in some crammed chapters leading up to their departure to Vinland. Ontop of being significantly less interesting than discovery on the way to Miklagrad, it's poorly written and still missing the 'Vinland Saga' feel. It was a long trek since I started this manga. There were two attempts. The first, I lasted until 6 chapters, the second, with effort and scrolling, I finished 'till the latest update of chapter.

Vinland Saga ( Japanese: ヴィンランド・サガ, Hepburn: Vinrando Saga) is a Japanese historical manga series written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. The series is published by Kodansha, and was first serialized in the boys-targeted manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Magazine before moving to the monthly manga magazine Monthly Afternoon, aimed at young adult men. As of June 2023, its chapters have been collected in 27 tankōbon volumes. Vinland Saga has been licensed for English-language publication by Kodansha USA. Okay, we've had a terrible 36-chapter arc, we totally missed out on the Eastern Expedition, the titular arc, SURELY we'll have some development and drama on the high seas, on their journey to Vinland.

During the expedition to the Vinland colony, Thorfinn gets into an conflict with Ivar who argues that they must bring weapons to the colony since they are going to uncharted territory, and thus need a means to protect themselves or it is all for nought. While Ivar struggles to articulate his ideas, he still ends up making a case grounded in logic unlike Thorfinn who straight up admits he has no actual response or argument for Ivar... later in the story, but becomes another generic archetype, a pacifist.. Despite me enjoying the farm arc, the change has made his story rather boring, predictable and generic.
