Finally, smaller things like no running with power (though it does have somewhat advanced running metrics like stride length and cadence), a very limited on-watch post-workout data screen (typically forcing you to use the Zepp app, which is actually very good), and intermittent issues with smartphone connectivity might not be make-or-break for the Cheetah Pro, but it does show that Amazfit isn’t 100% there when it comes to their sport-focused devices. Section divider Conclusions In terms of smartwatch features, the Pro does offer a lot, it’s just a case of how well those features are executed. You can view notifications, though I found notification support a bit spotty in terms of appearing on the watch. There’s a riff on Garmin’s Morning Report feature here too, which gives you a summary of things like battery life, weather and sleep stats. Strava, Relive, and adidas Running availability may vary depending on your country or region. Apple Health is only available on iOS devices, and Google Fit is only available on Android devices. You can easily upload routes created in apps such as Strava or Komoot, and upload them via the Zepp Health app. You can then follow along, which is especially useful for hikes and trail runs, but also useful for city runs too. The maximum storage space for music is 2.3GB (due to the system space occupied, the actual space used by the user may be less than 2.3GB); based on 5-10MB per song, it can store up to 270-470 MP3 songs.

Amazfit promises 8 days of battery life, which is probably achievable if you keep the advanced features turned off. RELATED: The Best Triathlon Smartwatches of 2023, Reviewed Section divider Amazfit Cheetah Pro Review: The Basics

The Cheetah Square is pretty much a fully-fledged Amazfit smartwatch, so it’s pretty adept when you’re not working out. The Cheetah Pro features a responsive button and a convenient crown on its right side, making it easier for the user to control the watch, even during an intense run. And since the Cheetah Pro is aimed at runners, it comes with an AI-powered Zepp Coach to provide personalized running plans tailored to the user's goals, which will adjust week-to-week based on the user's performance and condition. It can also provide scientific guidance to the users to help them understand their progress. Morning updates need to be set in the Zepp App or in the watch settings, and the currently supported content is: weather, battery, sleep, schedule, PAI, yesterday's activity. Amazfit relies on its own Zepp OS to run the software show on the Cheetah Pro and we’re up to version 2.0 now.

It'll be interesting to see how Garmin responds to the Cheetah series since two of its rivals have launched wearables with generative AI on board. Perhaps the next Forerunner will have an OpenAI-powered chatbot. It’s got a good-sized screen, a comfortable (and removable) nylon strap, and physical buttons, and it’s waterproof up to 50 meters, so you can take it for a swim and jump in the shower with it. Overall, I found that Amazfit overestimated my training load compared to Garmin, but this is in part because of a shorter sample load of data and because I started running with it when I was "overtraining" according to Garmin, making me look less fit to Zepp's algorithms. First is Zepp Coach, which analyses your fitness goals and prescribes workout sessions. You can choose the days you’d like to workout, and the type of fitness you’re looking to achieve, and it will suggest the type of session. Corresponding sports modes include: Outdoor Running, Treadmill, Walking, Indoor Walking, Outdoor Cycling, Pool Swimming, Rowing Machine, Elliptical. The accuracy and sensitivity of the workout recognition feature varies from person to person, and are related to the posture and proficiency of the user during their workout. Short workout duration or frequent changes in posture may not trigger the automatic recognition feature. When you are driving a car or taking a bus, or taking part in other such activities, accidental recognition may be triggered if these activities are particularly similar to the selected workout mode. When you are conducting outdoor activities, if the GPS signal is poor or the AGPS data information has not been synchronized with the mobile phone for an extended period, these outdoor activities may be assessed as indoor activities.Heading out the door? Read this article on the new Outside+ app available now on iOS devices for members! We used it alongside the impressive multi-band mode on Garmin’s latest Forerunner watches and found the GPS performed well, but wasn't immaculate. There's significant wandering in the example above, but the distance came out correct in the end – so it's workable for those less fussy about their data. The first thing to note is that the Zepp Coach and Coach AI are not connected singing from the same sheet, so the AI has no idea what’s in your session. So if you ask it to design you a session it will a) be different to Zepp Coach and b) will ask you to confirm your fitness levels and personal goals all over again. You’re getting a 47mm polymer case with a pretty showy titanium alloy bezel on top, surrounding a nice-sized and good quality 1.45-inch, 480 x 480 AMOLED touchscreen display. Indoor positioning services are not supported. Positioning speed and accuracy may be affected by the surrounding environment. The number of satellites connected to simultaneously, and specific satellite connections, may depend on your location.

The battery life may vary according to the settings, operation conditions and other factors. So the actual result may differ from the laboratory data.VO2 Max on the Cheetah Pro was 53 compared to 56 on our Garmin watch, so there are some good training insights available here. Heart rate accuracy The Amazfit Cheetah Square has a relatively small 285mAh battery, but does a good job at staying the distance for a watch that's so thin. There’s another AI feature here called Aura, which is another subscription service that offers relaxation, medication, and sleep sounds. It also uses your real-time heart rate to use AI to adapt the soundscapes to your level of relaxation and see you off to sleep. Cheetah Pro's users can utilize this GPS technology by importing a route file from the Zepp App and color Offline Map of their planned activity area for precise navigation during a run. The good news is that there is a solution to improve that accuracy thanks to the support to pair external heart rate monitors.
