The Leather Colourants are designed for restoring the colour and changing the colour of all leather items. The reason we recommend this colourant range over any other is the high rub fastness and scuff resistance characteristics: you will struggle to scuff or scratch them! The Complete Leather Repair Kit provides enough colourant and the right equipment to cover touch ups to small areas and minor repairs. A wide range of pre-mixed standard colours to choose from; best suited if you are changing the colour of leather. Send us a sample so we can match the colour perfectly to your item, so long as it is larger than a postage stamp. Alcohol Cleaner: This is used after the Leather Prep and is designed to remove any leftover residue from the Prep.

This is a common error and it could spell disaster for your leather. At Leather Colour Doctor we have taken the time to carefully formulate dyes of exceptional quality. Our products act as an all-in-one leather dye and sealer. The colour of my leather has worn/faded and I want to restore it, do I use the Leather Re-Colouring Balm or the Leather Colourant Kit?

Leather dyes & colourants for easy repairs

Q. Will this affect the quality of the repair compared to applying Leather Colourant and Leather Finish? There are so many reasons to grab a leather colourant to revitalise your car interior. Here are a few of the benefits. We use 16 base mixing colours, these mixing colours are primary, secondary and shade colours which can be mixed together to achieve any colour to match the leather being worked on. A Colour Matching Guide is available to teach you how to mix and adjust colours. Additional support and guidance can also be given over the phone if required. Yes, our Colourants can be used on any type of leather. If you are looking to solely restore the colour to aniline leather, we would recommend using our Leather Re-Colouring Balm, as this is designed for absorbent leathers. If you are looking to change the colour, then our Leather Colourant would be best.

Once you've applied the dye, you'll need to let it dry. Again, be sure to follow the instructions that come with your kit, as different dyes may have different drying times. Once the item is dry, you can enjoy your newly dyed leather!

The colourant used in the kit can be used on Vinyl, but the colourant layer will not adhere as well to the surface Vinyl as it does on leather. To counteract this, we advise that you apply our Adhesion Promoter before spraying on the colourant, this will ensure a suitable surface for the colourant to adhere to and provide better results and longevity. To restore the original colour to non-absorbent leathers where more significant areas of fading or wear has occurred you should use the Leather Colourant Kit. Sometimes the scuffed area or stain is small, and using leather dye paint is too much for the task. Thankfully, there is a more modest solution with a leather repair pen. These leather repair pens are available in a wide range of colours and can be used on leather, vinyl and trim. Leather repair pens are highly effective for fast repairs that minimise unsightly marks or scuffs.

Leather Prep: This is used to remove any manufacture's finish; this is an important step, so your new colour and/ or repair products adhere properly. Yes, however before applying the Colourant the leather will need to be degreased. For this we recommend using our Leather Degreaser. This will remove any excess oils from within the leather, enabling the Leather Colourant to adhere to the leather. Most importantly is their ability to resist scuffs and scratches. The Leather Colourants are extremely hard wearing and will not scratch unless very heavily forced. Applications Maybe your leather couch needs leather dye to restore it to its former glory, or maybe you're hoping to completely transform it - taking it from a lighter color to a dark color, or vice versa.
