Most publishers and educational suppliers use a standardised colour palette nowadays, although there are some exceptions and alternatives offered. I received an audio copy of this novel from the publisher, Harper Audio, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. But what Edward discovers about the vase has Dora questioning everything she has believed about her life, her family, and the world as she knows it. All books are relevant, exciting and will support you in ensuring that your pupils’ learning is engaging and stimulating. This book presents a great mash up: Greek mythology and history blended in 1799’s London setting perfectly!

If you were instead hoping for Edward to be involved in a romance with his friend and benefactor Cornelius - as is heavily implied at the start - then you will be left disappointed. Practical, hands-on resources to support the teaching of Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised, including grapheme cards, charts and mats, wall friezes, word cards and tricky word cards, teacher’s guides and more.We are taken on a voyage of discovery and a journey into a dangerous web of fraud and deception, as the plot thickens, and the revelations expose duplicitous and illegal activities, and Dora must face truths she is not ready to accept. Hezekiah comes across as brutish for the most part and is generally a very unpleasant person, but he is also quite scheming and becomes more dangerous as the story goes on. As a result of the move away from NC levels, the book bands originally outlined by the UK Reading Recovery National Network and its authors for KS1 only, have extended to meet demands by a great many schools for further levels including up to the end of KS2. Her parents had been renowned antiquarians specializing in Grecian artifacts and had made their living excavating tombs in South-Eastern Europe. We also consider the knowledge that the reader is assumed to have, the emotional maturity needed to fully engage with the text and the complexity of the story as these features will impact fluency.

Pandora making this discovery in the basement sets off a chain of events that will cause her heartbreak and lead her to unanswered questions surrounding her parents deaths.I really enjoyed this especially that it was set during the Georgian period which is fast becoming one of my favorite eras. And one duchess there, literally from the first hour of acquaintance, will become on a short leg with our cutie. Book band levels start at Lilac (with wordless books) and KS1 book band levels extend to Lime, with KS2 levels offered up to super-confident readers in Year 6 reading at Black+ level. The characters felt a bit one-dimensional (any talk of interesting character backgrounds was only brief - felt like it was only included to give the impression of there being more depth to the characters than there actually was); the plot’s pacing felt off (it was very slow at the start and then towards the end it felt really rushed) and the plot in general was just a bit lacklustre tbh.

It dances between painstaking realism and the softest chance of the supernatural, courting both but marrying neither in an elegant negotiation that admits very different readings. He is sharp-witted and in front of an oblivious Edward, never makes any attempt to hide his jealousy towards Dora, creating many of book's lighter moments. But some things are better left buried as her uncle is privy with his fair share of dark secrets and should Dora discover it, her very world could break apart more quickly than the most precious antique. The narrative ranges between young antiquarian Edward, Pandora herself, and her uncle Hezekiah to chart the disasters and mysteries that follow.
