In doing the movie in a realistic setting, a great opportunity to bring the connection home, bring the robots in disguise to a personal level with technology... lots of fun to work on, new characters, new asthetic Klutz has published a new LEGO® books, many of which are focused on STEM-themed activities. The latest addition to the range is LEGO Gear Bots. Which is unlike any other LEGO book as it combines LEGO elements with papercraft sections to create weird and wonderful kinetic models. Combining the 64 LEGO elements with the 10 sheets of papercraft pieces will allow you to build up to 8 different models. But does this unique blend of materials result in a decent LEGO book? Here’s my review of the LEGO Gear Bots book.

After coming to life, each Real Gear Robot chose sides, joining either the Autobots or Decepticons. They each seemed to find a niche to fill within their respective factions and simply joined in the regular ranks. Asked what heritage characters they would have put in the movie, Hasbro sidestepped and said they had been focused on developing toy concepts using the G1-type models before the movie went into production. Once word was received about the movie, the company started working on Robot Heroes, CyberStompers, and Real Gear to see how broad they could make the brand once they received the green light."— BaConon TFormers, "BotCon Hasbro and Paramount Parnership Panel", 2007/07/01 In 2023, Hasbro designer Aaron Archer would give the contradictory account that the Real Gear Robots were conceived from the very start as an opportunistic movie tie-in assortment inspired by Frenzy, which were never part of the Cybertron toyline. Easy, step-by-step instructions guide kids along as they fold the unique paper characters and connect them to the LEGO gears, axles, cams, and cranks.

Weren't thinking about the movie until it started to happen - don't know about other characters, just thrilled that the right people were making the movie; were not developing new designs for the movie, but were designing robot heroes, real gear, the helmet-- to figure out how broad we could get the brand"— amson TFW2005, "BOTCON 2007 - PANEL: HASBRO TRANSFORMERS MOVIE PARTNERSHIP", 2007/06/30 Very few humans are actually aware of it, but the unleashing of the power of the AllSpark has given life to machines world-wide. By purchasing a Real Gear ROBOTS product, you too now know this secret. Congratulations! Now, join the battle! [1] The Real Gear Robots toyline is the long-in-coming return of "mechanical device" Transformers along the lines of the original Soundwave, Perceptor and Reflector, whose altmodes are all common hand-held electric devices. Of course, the first thing you're going to need to do is 3D print all of the components. I printed out the parts on a MakerBot Replicator 2, on standard resolution. All the parts have been designed to avoid the need for support material. Printed all in one job, it takes about 6 hours in total. For my final version, I printed out different parts in different colors to show which gears were linked together. There's a pterodactyl with wings that flap, an octopus DJ that's always groovin' to the beat, a monkey with arms that crawl as you roll it along, a yeti with arms that punch up and down, and more.
