The Elsewhere Emporium by Ross MacKenzie (9781782505198

It’s persuasive powers take hold of Edna, a young magician at the beginning of her career, she unwilling steals the Emporium leaving Daniel and Ellie stranded with nowhere to call home. Can they rescue Edna and the Emporium from the evil clutches of a long forgotten magical soul, before the Bureau’s remaining agents are swallowed into the shadows too? Will the Emporium return to grace many more towns with it’s wondrous and magical pull? An exhilarating, awe-inspiring debut from a master storyteller writing for children for the first time, perfect for fans of Philip Pullman, Katherine Rundell and Eva Ibbotson. Kirby's life is turned upside down after a terrible storm hits his hometown, leaving his mum fighting for her life. The Nowhere Emporium has disappeared, when something disappears there are two things you can do, look for it or hope it turns up, but you can't do that with the nowhere emporium, the magical shop is full of terrific treasures and desirable dreams, and has been stolen by an invisible thief. Great! D’you see what I’ve done? The Emporium is so huge, and before it was all so dark and gloomy and… a bit scary to be honest. So I thought, what would make people happy? What would make them comfortable? What sort of place would they want to discover and enjoy? And then I thought, well everyone loves a carnival, don’t they? So here we are. Every single Wonder in a never-ending city of tents and stalls and rides. Look, over there’s the Leap of Faith, the first Wonder I ever saw, remember?”

When a mysterious message leads Mirren to the legendary shop from nowhere, she can feel that something is wrong. The timeline doesn’t feel correct. Ellie and Daniel are really still kids, yet Ellie’s father, Mr. Silver, was already a powerful adult magician with a significant reputation more than 50 years ago.Daniel's life changes forever when he stumbles upon The Nowhere Emporium in Glasgow. A dazzling and quirky tale, full of imagination and wonder - perfect for fans of JK Rowling, Philip Pullman and Neil Gaiman. Return to a world where imagination is power and anything is possible in the finale of the multi-award-winning Nowhere Emporium trilogy. Please follow the link to the Oak Academy lesson about 'Fieldwork: can I create a field sketch of my community?'. The dark shadow follows their every move, entrapping more and more innocents as it strives forward. I wanted to love this as much as I did the first, but it was more like an 8 instead of a 10. Definitely much creepier – feels like a horror book rather than a fantasy. I don’t think teen readers will be disappointed at all.

Alice Éclair, Spy Extraordinaire will whisk you away on a fabulous adventure, full of daring action and delicious cakes! This is the second book in The Nowhere Emporium trilogy, with The Otherwhere Emporium completing the trilogy. I loved this sequel to one of my favourite books. I loved it all apart from at the end because Daniel had to leave Elie. I liked this book because the emporium gets stolen from Daniel and people are disappearing and turning into shadows.
