Description

If you only want one version I recommend Ice Cool 2, it does everything IceCool does and more. If you already own one of them, the other version makes a good gift for friends and family. Having just bought a copy for a friend I’m eager to see what colossal construction we make with three times the rooms! Social Skills: Playing board games allows people to practice important social skills such as taking turns, working together as a team, and being respectful of other people’s opinions or strategies. The good-natured hilarity of failed shots is constant. This, along with the risk of getting caught, keeps players focused and engaged. The energetic gameplay adapts to a variety of group sizes. Combining with Ice Cool 2 caters for up to eight penguins. The result is more moments of tension and relief, catastrophe and victory. And more people to share those with. Gameplay in Ice Cool is very easy to learn. One player starts as the catcher, while the rest of the players are the runners.

Ice Cool 2 is a standalone expansion, meaning you can play the expansion without needing the base game (although its way better if you do have the base game, more on that later). The components in Ice Cool 2 are nearly identical to the original. There are 4 penguins and matching fish in different colors from the original. The cards have gotten a bit of an upgrade with the addition of tasks on the 1 value cards. A player can also use two value 2 cards to move any fish to a new doorway. The box setup is also very similar, being a mirrored version of the original. Finally, the rulebook has gotten a bit of an upgrade and is much clearer now.The ThinkFun Zingo Bingo Award Winning Preschool Game includes 6 double-sided Zingo! Cards, 72 double-sided tiles, and a Zinger device. Ice Cool is entertaining because of the player interaction. Playing almost feels like a sport where the penguins are an extension of the players. There's a sense of achievement to difficult manoeuvres. Curving arcs through doorways, or jumping walls to catch your friends. Players come together sharing those moments, often with a cry of "Did you see that?!". The ThinkFun Zingo Bingo Award Winning Preschool Game is suitable for pre-readers and early readers aged 4 and up.

It depends on the game, but generally speaking, many popular video games are designed to be easy to learn and play. Most games have tutorials and other help features that make it easier to jump right into the game. For more complex games, there may be a learning curve, but with some practice, most people are able to learn the game and start playing. What are the different levels of difficulty? Designing your own layouts is entertainment in itself, like an oversized tangram puzzle. The first game we played had four rooms in the centre with enough space to allow them to rotate position. It was huge; using all the boxes from both games plus the lids for extra stability. And we only had three players! We enjoyed closing and opening doorways to link rooms and create new paths.

Rules Changes For 2 Players

Trusted by families worldwide – Over 50 million sold, ThinkFun is the world’s leading manufacturer of brain games and mind challenging puzzles.

The different levels of difficulty vary based on the type of activity or task being performed. Generally speaking, there are five levels of difficulty: easy, medium, hard, very hard, and extreme. Easy tasks are those that require little to no effort and do not take much time to complete. Medium difficulty tasks require some effort and may take some time to complete. Hard tasks are those that require significant effort and are time-consuming to complete. Very hard tasks are those that require a lot of effort and are very time-consuming to complete. Extreme tasks are those that require an incredibly high level of effort and take a very long time to complete. Does the game have any replay value?Ice Cool is a stupid amount of fun. Not since Coconuts has there been a dexterity game that blew our expectations out of the water. We played this game a ton of times at Gen Con 2016 and the amount of cheering and laughter that erupted while playing this game was unreal. We always seemed to be drawing a crowd of onlookers as people walked by. The game ends when each player has been the Catcher twice (the players alternate between the rounds for who plays the Catcher and who plays the Runner). The artwork on the game boxes is also expertly done. The school-house has a lot of nice, thematic touches to really help to bring the theme home. The ID cards are also dual sided, with a male or female avatar on each side. The VP cards come in denominations of 1, 2 or 3 and depict increasingly larger plates of fish. We had one game where the catcher actually jumped two walls and caught me on the other side of the board. To be honest, I wasn’t even mad, that was an amazing shot. It’s moments like this which make Ice Cool so much fun. Ice Cool is going to be one of those games where there will be cheers or cries of anguish as people make particularly difficult or impressive shots. The hall monitor wants to catch the students by bashing into their penguins. Should you succeed, you take their hall pass, and should you get all the hall passes then the round ends. Fish and hall passes are all traded for scoring cards which can be one, two or three points, though as a bonus, collecting a pair of one’s allows you to take an extra turn. Once everyone has been caught by the hall monitor the game ends and you count up the points on your score cards. Amy’s Final Thoughts

The game won the title of “Kinderspiel des Jahres” in 2017 – a very prestigious award, selecting the best children’s game of the year. Its popularity isn’t confined to just kids either – adults of all ages are raving about it, thanks to its clever mechanics, beautiful design, and alluring theme. What use is Maths when you could have the easy life you see the other penguins having when you watch David Attenborough on TV? Cutting class is so much more fun and there’s plenty of fish to be had in the kitchens, so long as the hall monitor doesn’t catch you! If the Catcher at any point during his turn touches one or more Runners, he takes away their ID cards.

In each round one of the players takes the role of the Hall Monitor (the Catcher) - his aim is to catch the other penguins (the Runners), who will try to collect fish hanging from the doors. Even the box is a work of genius. Brian Gomez and Brain Games have designed a ‘boxes-within-boxes’ creation – the various rooms that help construct the icy arena all sit snug within each other in the main box. Each one is a few millimetres narrower than its predecessor, so they sit like Russian dolls. Rooms are clipped together on your table with wooden fish pegs, which is a neat touch. It quite literally is a big game in a modest-sized box (and it can be combined with ICE COOL 2 to make a humongous layout). Quality Components: High-quality components such as board pieces and cards will make the game more enjoyable and durable. Each player, starting with the Catcher, draws 1 card from the fish card draw pile for each ID card they have. The Catcher will always get 1 fish card for his own ID card, plus an additional fish card for each ID he captured. A Runner will only get a fish card if he wasn't caught. Each Runner attaches one of their fish tokens on each of the three doors marked with the fish symbol.
