Description

Being Aware of Being Aware is the distilled essence of all I have learnt of meditation and prayer over these forty years. I hope it may lead you to the wellspring of peace and happiness within yourself.' The benefit of journaling is that it allows you to identify, clarify, and accept your thoughts and feelings. It helps you discover what you want, what you value, and what works for you. It can also help you find out what you don’t want, what is not important to you, and what doesn’t work for you. According to the theory, there are two primary outcomes of comparing ourselves against our standards of correctness: He asks himself what makes the task so hard for him, and he realizes that he never seems to have trouble doing the work that goes into the report, but rather, writing it up cohesively and clearly. Reflecting can be done in multiple ways (including journaling; see the next tip) and is customizable to the person reflecting, but the important thing is to go over your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to see where you met your standards, where you failed them, and where you could improve.

Awareness is BEFORE PERSON, BEFORE THOUGHT, BEFORE THING. It cannot be attached TO. It is the substance, the aliveness itself that you are, that you are aware with, and the objective universe you are aware of. Your objective sense is itself that which your thought is, that which you see, hear, taste, touch and smell, and the objects of these themselves. The awareness of one’s own blind spots when it comes to introspection is an interesting area of scientific finding. The finding of the why of introspective blind spots (Pronin, 2007) is fascinating in that most humans rely on behavior in others more than behavior in self when evaluating bias. You are Awareness Itself individually and uniquely aware as "you." You are individual God being. The pure awareness you are is the one universe you experience. Awareness and form are one. Awareness is what you ARE, what you see WITH, and that which is SEEN. So, when I say "keep attention on Awareness Itself" it is the same as saying "keep attention on the LIGHT ITSELF", rather than on "you" and the "things" the light shines ON. Meditation is the practice of focusing your attention on one thing, such as your breath, a mantra, or a feeling, and letting your thoughts drift by instead of holding on to them. Mark Williams, professor of clinical psychology at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre and Welcome principal research fellow at the University of Oxford, says:People avoided occasions where they were required to be self-aware because it induced heightened self-criticism based on previous experience. What has been found is that gentle self-awareness is tremendously transformational when applied within trusted and safe conditions. People tend to attribute positive results of a task to internal factors like effort and ability (Schlenker, 1990), and attribute failure to external factors. Higher levels of self-awareness allow for increased habit change when failure is present and avoiding negative affect. Habits are hard to change, but that change is only accomplished with heightened self-awareness. Just as all there is to the waves and currents is the movement or activity of the ocean, so all there is to the mind is the motion or activity of awareness."

To “know thyself” is not a new concept. Its importance was already realized 3,000 years ago when inscribed on the Temple of Apollo.Self-awareness not only benefits the practitioner, but all that surrounds him or her. The clear and conscious mind gives way to the opportunity to continue on a path of learning. Without clarity, our ability to combat judgment and cognitive bias will always deter progress. This seems to be a foundational practice that leads to future enlightenment for every practitioner in positive psychology. Ridley, D. S., Schutz, P. A., Glanz, R. S., & Weinstein, C. E. (1992). Self-regulated learning: The interactive influence of metacognitive awareness and goal-setting. The Journal of Experimental Education, 60, 293–306. The awareness you are, the finished kingdom, the completely and utterly fulfilled you that you are, means the actual aliveness, or consciousness, or perception, or observing-ness, or cognizant-ness, or alertness-ness that you and that which you are universally aware of, is. The knowing of our being—or rather, awareness’s knowing of its own being in us—is our primary, fundamental and most intimate experience. It is in this experience that the peace, happiness and love for which all people long reside. The happiness we have sought so long outside of ourselves, in situations, objects and relationships, turns out to be always present and available in the simple knowing of our own being as it truly is. AS YOU KEEP ATTENTION ON THE ONE AWARENESS ITSELF, and BE the silent self (effortlessly and receptively resting in the silence of the one awareness you are for AT LEAST three or four hours every day, simply, effortlessly LETTING the one awareness BE ITSELF as you) you are BEING the Miracle Self. You are achieving what you've been trying to achieve all this time. You are BEING the demonstration of boundless, unconditional and omnipresent life, love, harmony, peace, and abundance Itself without thought, without effort.

An effort to reconstruct the human dilemma has made great strides to reinvent self-awareness as a constructive concept in psychology (Silvia & O’Brien, 2004). Humans viewing themselves merely as objects can have detrimental psychological effects on overall wellbeing. The key to self-awareness is the concept of inclusion of objective and subjective states and the practice of self-compassion (Neff, 2011).Sutton, A., Williams, H. M., & Allinson, C. W. (2015). A longitudinal, mixed-method evaluation of self-awareness training in the workplace. European Journal of Training and Development, 39, 610–627. Seems simple right? Well it is, kind of, at least for a moment. What is difficult is sustaining the detachment from our thoughts, emotions and sensory inputs. For anyone who’s tried to be mindful, it is a similar challenge. It is easy to be mindful, for a moment or even a few minutes, but it is really hard to sustain that mindfulness for more than a few minutes. Being mindful, and becoming more aware of the present moment, means noticing the sights, smells, sounds and tastes that you experience, as well as the thoughts, feelings and sensations that occur from one moment to the next.

Studies have found that mindfulness programmes – in which participants are taught mindfulness practices across a series of weeks – can bring about reductions in stress and improvements in mood. How you can practise mindfulness I’ve gained deeper understanding listening to Rupert Spira than I have from any other exponent of modern spirituality. Reality is sending us a message we desperately need to hear, and at this moment no messenger surpasses Spira and the transformative words in his essays.’

Suddenly, she realizes that she may be contributing to the problem. She looks inward and sees that she doesn’t show Luis appreciation very often, overlooking the nice things he does around the house for her and little physical touches that show his affection.
