The designer has his very own set of ‘Shelves for Life’ and will send you a free personal design if you send him your measurements. According to Warren, these bookshelves will “store all your knowledge and prized possessions.” Starting with the lid, fasten together the long boards that make up the lid with 2-inch ribs and glue. Use 4 ribs to assemble the lid placing one rib 1-inch from the head and toe ends of the lid and the remaining 2 ribs evenly spaced in between. Use glue and screws to secure the ribs. If preferred, you can remove the screws from the ribs after the glue dries--let the glue cure for 24 hours before removing the screws. If you're looking for more information on building your own coffin (or casket) from scratch, try reading " So You Wanna Build a Casket." Start with a ~30-inch 1x4 and rip the 10- and 6-degree angles (see Figure X) and then cut a pair of at 14 inches in length.

Use a circular saw to cut the base of the coffin out of plywood. Trace the base template onto a 3⁄ 4 in (1.9 cm) 4 ft × 8 ft (1.2 m × 2.4 m) sheet of plywood. Clamp the plywood to a pair of sawhorses or a flat workbench so the cut lines are hanging off the edge and cut out the base of the coffin. His design philosophy is all about creating emotional experiences, making us think about our belongings, and his designs often feature humorous conceptual twists. Last, find a good space to work. A sturdy, flat table or workbench will make for a nice comfortable working environment to measure, cut, prepare, and assemble your coffin. In the photos you will see we are using a torsion box table in our workshop. Set yourself up on a table or picnic table outside if you don't have adequate garage space or access to a workshop. 3) Prepare the Cut ListCustom Coffin Table, Halloween Decor w/Built-In LED Lights, Gothic Decor/Gothic Furniture, Coffin Coffee Table, Choose Size + Add Legs Coffin RIP Neon Mirror Sign,Gothic Room Decor,Coffin Mirror Sign,Halloween Gifts Party Coffin Decor,Gothic Lover Gift,Halloween Decor

Lay the side pieces around the base of the coffin and dry-fit them. Put the base of the coffin on the ground or a large flat work surface and lay out the side pieces around it. Test-fit everything to make sure all the sides fit correctly before you start attaching them. [10] X Research source Leave room between the lower end of each rib and the floor frame rails for the floor boards to fit.Unless you intend to run the boards through a joiner-planer for a perfect smooth edge, there is no need to glue the edge of the top andbottom boards for the side and end panels. The ribs will provide enough strength without edge gluing the side panels. If you use screws and glue to join the ribs, you can remove the screws after the glue dries--after about 24 hours. 6) Assemble the Floor and Sides Make a second template that is 3⁄ 4 in (1.9 cm) smaller for the base. Cut out the first template and trace it onto another 2 pieces of shelf paper taped together. Measure in 3⁄ 4 in (1.9 cm) all the way around and draw the new, smaller outline in the middle. Cut this new template out as well. [4] X Research sourceDesigner William Warren created a set of bookshelves that will last you a lifetime: they can be reassembled as a coffin. In other words, the ‘Shelves for Life’ is a piece of furniture that will follow you on your final journey. Gather your materials and tools to build the coffin. Buy a roll of shelf paper, 3 3⁄ 4 in (1.9 cm) 4 ft × 8 ft (1.2 m × 2.4 m) sheets of plywood, 1.5 in (3.8 cm) wood screws, and wood glue at a home improvement center. Make sure you have a circular saw, an electric drill, a pencil, and a measuring tape to measure and cut out the pieces and put them together. [1] X Research source
