Description

The new moon is just as important as the full moon in harnessing its magical energies. The new moon represents new beginnings, fresh starts, and the opportunity to set intentions for the future. This is a time to reflect on what you want to manifest and to plant the seeds for growth and transformation. The serenity of working in harmony with celestial bodies revitalizes the spirit and quiets the mind.

Connect with nature: Spend time in nature and connect with the elements. This can help to ground you and bring you closer to the natural rhythms of the world around you.

Developing a Relationship with the Lunar Cycles.

This phase starts seven days after the Full Moon and lasts for three days. Let the energy of this moon quietly finish your removal processes and cleanses. Close any pending issues and quietly renew your inner energies. Want to start saving money for your next vacation? Open a savings account on the first day of the waxing moon. This book would actually be a great introduction to magic in general, if read in tandem with other, similar works. You might be surprised by that, since the topic is so specific (the Moon). A simple five year cycle would be insufficiently accurate; the sequence of intercalary months is completed every thirty years, after five cycles of 62 lunations with two intercalary months each, and one cycle of 61 lunations, with a single intercalary month, or after a total of 11 intercalary months. This assumes that there are exactly 371 lunations in 30 years, which is accurate to a one day every 20 or 21 years on average (this is less accurate than the Julian Calendar, which shifts a day in about 130 years, but which ignores lunar months). It may be assumed that the “30 year cycle” was not prescriptive, and that an extra month would have been omitted as the need arose (i.e. some 300 years after the calendar’s inception).

Because this is a very introspective and spiritually charged moon phase, you will want to work on strengthening your Witch Powers. If you are a Beginner Witch, go ahead and cast your first easy spell during this time:There are 13 lunations (lunar cycles) in one calendar year, and they are spiritually connected to the natural rhythms of life: Birth, Growth, Wholeness, Decline, Death, and Rebirth. ⛤ The 13 Full Moons are great opportunities to come together in a celebration called Esbat, or to perform a solitary Full Moon ritual. This was just a simple moon magic spell. We’ll link to more soon. Waning Moon Spell for Banishing Negative Energy

There’s a large section in this book on Moon Goddesses, but precious little about Gods with similar associations. It would’ve been nice to explore some of that. The section on the Goddesses is quite thorough and descriptive, if not exactly comprehensive. Our ancestors recognized the moon’s magical powers almost universally in cultures throughout the world and throughout history. It comes in many forms and takes its place in many spiritual traditions differently. But essentially: Lilith explains her aesthetic and practical choices in some detail in Moon Magic, and also explains why she must remain celibate. There is a kind of cosmic sexual engagement that occurs between priest and priestess during the ceremonial rites; so, the sexual energy between the pair is used for the magic and cannot be used in the normal fashion. Apparently, it is understood in certain occult communities that, "When sex comes in the door, magic goes out the window" (i.e. they become magically impotent). In the rituals Fortune describes in her books, the goddess has thankfully stopped demanding literal sacrifice of men's lives and is content to have their energy and vitality drawn off them during the ceremonies, to use to her own ends. The goddess promises to bless them in exchange for their service, but the blessing will come in her own time and her own way. After these rites, both priest and priestess are left vigorous and revitalised (following a brief period of post-ceremonial exhaustion) much as couples feel after good sex. So their energy that is taken up by the goddess is returned to them manifestly amplified (which is not the case with the blood sacrifices of earlier times, where the reward had to be gained in the afterlife, or not at all). But moon magic is actually a highly specialized form of witchcraft. Not all practitioners use it in the same way—or at all. So what is moon magic? The entrey TRINVX[tion] SAMO[nii] SINDIV “three-nights of Samonios today” on the 17th of Samonios suggests that a festival of Samhain was considered to last for three nights.A non-fiction, self-help, instructional collection, Ahlquist shares all types of information about the moon, it’s energy, and how you can involve the timing of it’s phases to aid in all sorts of aspects in your life. I’m not a very superstitious or spiritual person, but there’s something about using moon energy that truly draws my attention. I’ve always been fascinated by the night sky, and there’s just something so peaceful about gazing up at the moon. Reading Moon Magic certainly gave me a better education about the moon itself and it’s folklore, as well as inspiration for things to try and take note of.
