If you are using a moisturiser that is greasy or oily, be careful not to overdo the application of the moisturiser as this can cause a ‘frying’ effect in the sun. However, there are some pointers that families can follow to give them a better chance of finding the right one. For use when a very high protection sunscreen is desired by those with sensitive skin or sensitive skin conditions; or when a non-nano sunscreen is sought. Nothing blocks 100 per cent of the sun’s rays, so you should also use protective clothing and hats as well as sunscreen. Some children with eczema find their skin gets better in the sun, but this is not true of all cases, with itch and rash often getting worse for some children in sunny weather.

Appropriate prescribing of Sunscreen products - NHS Forth Valley

This is to prevent the sunscreen from becoming diluted by the emollient and to ensure that the sunscreen keeps its protective properties. We have been using Sunsense for the last 10 years, since my then two year old daughter had a bad reaction to a big brand cream that we used on her whilst on holiday.

Unperfumed, to minimise the risk of skin irritation, the non-greasy and non-sticky cream-gel absorbs quickly and is water-resistant. Some children’s skin will become inflamed just from being hot, so if you have tried a range of different sun creams without success you will need to keep your child out of the sun, or at least covered, particularly at the hottest time of the day. It provides SPF 50+, UVA and UVB broad spectrum protection and helps relieve chapped lips due to exposure to the sun.Our dermatology nurses advise you try a supermarket own brand cream first, as more expensive creams have more ingredients, such as fragrances, which have more potential to cause reactions. SunSense has a range of high factor sun creams for everyone, including those in high-risk groups such as children, babies, skin cancer patients and eczema sufferers. He does look a bit white but it gives 100% protection and no skin irritation and stays on very well in water. Some clothing and swimwear comes marked as UV protective, otherwise the denser the weave and thicker the material, the more protective it is. My Australian sister in law recommended SunSense and sent some over for us (it was hard to get in the UK then), and the whole family have been using it ever since.

SunSense Sensitive Is it just me or can anyone not find the SunSense Sensitive

Avoid “Once a day” creams as protection doesn’t last as long as it should; probably from getting rubbed off on clothes and loungers. It provides SPF 50 broad spectrum protection, yet contains lower levels of substances which may irritate your child’s sensitive skin. Having a little one with eczema is hard enough, but finding a sun cream to protect their vulnerable skin can be a minefield.I believe it should be cheaper in cost so more people would purchase it instead if the cheaper more commercial sun creams.
