Description

In an earlier post, I wrote about the new Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Expansion: Shining Fates. In this post, I take a deeper look at the range of products released for the set. Shining Fates focuses on Shiny Pokémon and contains many V and VMAX Pokémon. As you would expect, those Pokémon are front and centre in these products. The Elite Trainer Box You can read more about the Shining Fates set and Shiny Vault sub-set over on the Shining Fates Elite Trainer Box review that went live yesterday, as that goes into it in a bit more detail. The Actual Tin As mentioned earlier, the Shining Fates Tins each come with a promo card — a Full Art, Shiny Pokémon V. The tin I received was the Cramorant Tin, so it contained the Shiny Cramorant V you see above, but the other two tins contain similar Full Art, Shiny Pokémon V promos — Shiny Boltund V or Shiny Eldegoss V.

The box itself can hold around 500 cards and comes with four dividers to help organise your collection.Although the release of the set in the US was in February 2021, many people were unable to find product of it at stores until May-June 2021 due to a rise in card scalping at the time.

Whilst we will do everything we can to meet the delivery times above, there may be factors outside of our control and we cannot guarantee delivery within this time frame. They do fit a lot more cards in them, but at the same time I feel the size is even odder. I feel that it would have been more useful to have it almost entirely rectangular rather than have two sloped sides, because then you could fit one row of cards along the top side and two smaller columns of cards on the edge (see the image on the right — the tin itself would actually need to be extended by about half an inch for this to fit, though). Three different Tins and four different Party Pin Collections are available under the Shining Fates Banner.

Title Shining Fates SWSH: Shining Fates was the second TCG special expansion set of the Sword & Shield series. It was released on February 19th 2021 in the US. This expansion set contains 73 cards in the base set, and 122 Shiny Vault cards. Shiny Crobat V / VMAX and Shiny Dragapult V / VMAX from S4a Shiny Star V,will be available as promo cards featured as two boxes in the Shining FatesPremium Collection—Shiny Crobat VMAX / Shiny Dragapult VMAX. I really like these products. Like the Tins, the desirability is reliant on the particular feature card (or cards for the VMAX products). In the case of the Shining Fates collections, we have three strong Pokémon featured, Crobat and Dragapult VMAX especially. Any of these products will make a great gift to a Pokémon TCG player. I would expect the feature cards to be in high demand on the singles market, so grab one of the collections if you can. For well over a decade, Pokémon TCG Tins have had the same basic shape — an oblong octagon. However, sometime in the past year or so, they’ve changed the design of the tins to make them larger and have a different shape. First and foremost, although this review is for the Shiny Cramorant Tin, there are actually three different Shining Fates Tins available — the other two contain Shiny Boltund and Shiny Eldegoss respectively. The price and contents are the same, aside from the cover of the tin and the promo card included, which are of the respective Pokémon.

One note: The popularity of Pokémon TCG has risen in the past year, in some cases demand is outstripping supply. Combined with the particular desirability of this set, prices for Shining Fates products (especially the Elite Trainer Box) could fluctuate unexpectedly. Shop cautiously! Shining Fates Tins & Mad Party Pin Collections Shining Fates gives us one V Collection (Pikachu), and two VMAX Collections (Shiny Crobat, and Shiny Dragapult). At the time of writing the VMAX collections are unavailable, they are due for release on 5 March 2021. If you want to shop more Pokemon, explore our vast collection here. From Hidden Fates to Vivid Voltage, Zatu is your one-stop shop for all things Pokemon! We even have brand new Evolving Skies featuring Eevee and evolutions in gorgeous new full art.It also means cards will slide around a lot more unless you fill it up, and it’s harder to fill up due to the larger size. It’s likely this will be the new standard size for tins, though, but these are just my personal opinions on it. It still provides good storage for your cards. You can also use these tins to store just about anything, not just Pokémon cards, so get creative! Final Thoughts
