Hello again Rose! Thank you so much! I will write a third Varjak book one day, but not for a while yet - I wrote a bit about my idea for it here. In the meantime, if you haven't already read it, I hope you'll try my new book Phoenix - it's not about Varjak, but I think if you enjoyed Outlaw, you'll enjoy it too! In October 2013, Playbox Theatre Company took on Varjak Paw in a major multi-media production. [3] Opera [ edit ]

Where do I even begin with this incredible book? An adventure woven with mythology, magic and the power of the human spirit, Tyger by SF Said is a story to be internalised and drawn upon again and again. This book is destined to last – it already has a classic feel.An animal story with a difference, Sky Wolves combines diverse themes into a thoroughly satisfying novel, which can be read by readers of many ages and interests. If you'd like to know more about my new book TYGER–I've done quite a few interviews about it lately that you might enjoy. The children then write a non-chronological report, based on what they know about Mesopotamian Blue cats. The reports are then sent to the SPRB, and a reply is received in which Ms Lines asks for an explanation of The Skills that were mentioned in the reports. By now, a line of communication has been established between the children and the SPRB. Ms Lines suggests that Varjak is nominated for Cat of the Year. She asks the children to help her to persuade the judging panel that he should win. Perhaps they could write an article for the SPRB journal that tells the readers how Varjak solved the mystery of the Vanishings? Maybe, Ms Lines could turn up in person to congratulate the children on their fantastic writing! 4. Moving on

Varjak Paw is a rich text that can be used as the stimulus for writing beyond the book. The following suggestion involves children writing non-fiction texts for specific purposes and audiences.Varjak Paw is a Mesopotamian Blue kitten. He lives with his family in an old house on a hill. Like the rest of the family, he has never left the house. But, one day his grandfather tells him about ‘the Way’ – a secret martial art for cats. Varjak then has to use the Way to survive in a city full of dangerous dogs, cat gangs and, strangest of all, the Vanishings. Varjak Paw is an absolute classic and with books like Phoenix adding to the Said shelf it is clear that there was a lot of weight and expectation on Tyger. Breathe easy, it delivers. In spades. There is no doubt that this book earns one of those rare spots on the shelf marked "Future Classics". Meanwhile, Louisa Farrow's wonderful review on Reading Zone described TYGER as "absorbing, uplifting and joyous - my book of the year so far. Buy it, read it, share it!" Meet Skulduggery Pleasant, skeleton detective, fighting to save the world from wizard-gone-to-the-dark-side, Nefarian Serpine. Yep, I will. anyway, I'm so glad that your going to continue writing books because they are so good! thanx

Hello, I have been reading your books for 2 Years and I have to say that they were fantastic, the names of every Character and the detailed storyline has got me glued to the book, but for one question, where did you get the name Varjak from? Because umm a long time ago I once had a Human Warrior Character named Varjak and I was surprised that the name was used, I am not mad about this because I know alot of people have also used the name too. Soon the city erupts in an all-out gang war as the evil Sally Bones attempts to control the lives of all cats. Horrified and outnumbered, Varjak and the others must fight for their freedom or die trying; can Jalal's Way really be the best way? If you’re looking for reading material to inspire your children’s written work, look no further than the exciting tale of feline martial art The answer is that there is no official Varjak Paw film… As well as being a genius artist, Dave is a brilliant film director. Hello Rose, and thank you so much for that brilliant comment! I love it when I find a book that I can't stop reading, so it's fantastic to hear that you felt like that about The Outlaw Varjak Paw! I hope you'll enjoy my other books too!

And here's one last TYGER review for now, from the Inkdrinker blog, who totally made my day by concluding: "Said says he thinks this is his best book yet. It’s actually one of the best you will ever read: a true classic has been born." i'm writing to tell you that the books you have written are my favorite.you inspired me to write books myself. I wanted to ask you if i could have permission to write a book based on varjak paw. I also wanted to know your tips on writing a book. I am ten and i found out about your books when i was nine.I can't wait for your new book to come out! Best wishes Isobel I can't tell you yet exactly what is going to happen in the third Varjak Paw book, as I haven't started to write it yet. But you can find out most of what I know in this blog post, where I talked about my ideas for the book. hello I love reading the book 'Varjak paw' can you please make one more book or even 2 more? OH MY GOD! it is the best cat book I'VE EVER READ! i love your books! thanks bye! In the meantime, have you seen my new book Phoenix? It just came out a few months ago. It might sound quite different on the surface - humans & aliens rather than cats & dogs - but if you like Varjak Paw, I hope you will enjoy it too; many of the same themes and ideas are at the heart of it.

In the meantime, thank you so much for reading Phoenix and for sharing it with your best friend! I'm so glad you both liked it! Who was your favourite character? The book is a fantastic mentor text, engaging children through pacey storytelling and the emerging message of the importance of friendship and loyalty. Author SF Said is a writer we can learn from, particularly in the way he creates gripping moments of tension and his detailed descriptive passages. Varjak Paw is written as a series of relatively brief chapters so lends itself to a serialised read over a period of time. This gives you the opportunity to model to upper KS2 pupils how to read aloud with fluency, accuracy and expression. Don’t interrupt the reading by asking questions or for opinions. Read it for enjoyment. Then, return to specific parts of the book to explore and teach particular skills. 1. Reading as a reader Then discuss how they could be completed. Challenge children to come up with more abstract ideas, e.g. “I can see my future” or “I can taste fear”. Varjak is inquisitive and brave, he is different from the rest of his family. Not just in his appearance (He has yellow eyes, while theirs are green) but also in the way he acts. ‘ This is because Varjak is standing on the very edge of the only place he has known all his life. Who is the illustrator of Varjak Paw? Hello, My name is Isabella. My friend and I have just finished your books! I am addicted to them! What happened to Holly’s eye? Do you have any other similar books? If not any recommendations? I cant wait to see the third book!
