Description

While they’re often viewed as heretical within the ordning, Evil Water giants will often keep their allegiance a secret and attempt to push their communities toward the behaviors that appease Olhydra’s lust for violence. For their service, Olhydra grants her giants the ability to breathe water, making them a threat on land as well as underwater. As the name implies, Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants is a DnD book entirely dedicated to giants. It provides a detailed look at Giant society, from the mightiest DnD gods to the mundane things you’d find in a Giant’s bag. This also includes some (limited) player options and a wealth of encounter features for DMs – all in line with the book’s gargantuan theme. Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants also takes some familiar faces from D&D and adds new monster builds and interpretations. Take, for example, our old pals, the frost giants. The book builds on their inspiration from Norse mythology and mixes in some new lore that’s unique to D&D. RPGBOT uses the color coding scheme which has become common among Pathfinder build handbooks, which is simple to understand and easy to read at a glance. They can also expand your pool of spells known, which can be helpful for classes like the Bard and the Sorcerer, who get a strictly limited number of spells known. You might weigh that benefit against spellcasting feats like Fey Touched, but remember that Runeshaper is expected to be in line with Skilled or Tough, which aren’t stunning powerful feats.

Glory of the Giants releasing??? When is Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants releasing???

Frost giant ice shapers are physically as hardy as any other warriors in their enclave, but they surpass the others by harnessing the sheer elemental power of air and water. This extra layer of power on top of their physical strength usually leads ice shapers to claim positions of leadership among their enclaves. Frost giant ice shapers summon their power from frost rune-inscribed ice or similar objects that act as the source of some of their most potent abilities. Unfortunately, these well-designed and thought-out locations are somewhat marred by the fact that the “adventure” suggestions in each location don’t have any ties to CR, which will make these resources difficult to use for newer DMs who rely on that level of guidance. Magic Items

Huge options for a small number of fans

At the end of the day, Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giantsis quite comparable to Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, which is a solid book full of useful information when wanting to incorporate a certain monster type into your campaign.

There’s a lot to freak out about with a frostmourn, but easily the most terrifying ability that these ghoulish giants gain is the power to turn its targets into frozen statues. A creature petrified in this way has a single hit point and will shatter if they take bludgeoning damage, killing them. Frostmourn Tactics The “Invoking” system they’ve come up with is pretty neat. Essentially, each magic item has a passive ability, but you can also invoke the rune inscribed on the item to produce a once-a-day effect that recharges at the next dawn. This makes for interesting resource management, but be careful with these items. They could easily skew the power level of your players if you’re playing in a campaign that doesn’t frequent multiple encounters per day. Giant Bestiary In Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants, your party can go all in with adventures featuring one of Dungeons & Dragons’ most iconic primordial powers, the giants. Explore the realms and enclaves of the giants themselves, take a deeper dive into their lore, and face off against a new bestiary of massive monsters in this book. This section of the book presents giants as complex societies that aren’t meant to be the monsters of every story. Similar to most supplements, it provides information on different pieces of lore (social structure, customs, factions, etc.) along with rollable tables that you can use to customize your own adventures. You learn Comprehend Languages and can cast it for free once per day, but the primary appeal here is the runes. You get 1 to 3 runes per day based on your Proficiency Bonus, and each rune lets you temporarily know a single 1st-level spell and cast it once per day for free.

Your choice here also limits which other feat in the tree you can take. Since Strike of the Giants can’t be taken more than once, you’ll typically select your type of giant based on which of the 4th-level feats you want to take. What if an ice giant succumbed to the power of an Elemental Evil? What if they devoted themselves to a demon lord? What if they mastered rune magic? What would a distant elemental relative of an ice giant be like? I quite liked all these cycles as it gives you a lot of choices to work with when you want to include a specific type of giant in your campaign. A +1 ability score increase, cold resistance, and a Reaction similar to Hellish Rebuke. The Reaction targets Constitution saves, and Constitution saves tend to be high, so this may not be reliable. Guile of the Cloud Giant from you in a straight, horizontal line. But that’s not what they wrote. “pushed 10 feet directly away from you” was right there.• Storm Strike: It’s on a Constitution Strike of the Giants provides some on-hit damage and usually a rider effect, offering some versatility for martial classes looking to do more than damage. At PB/day uses these won’t dominate your tactics, but they do give you a fun button to push a few times per day.Because gaining access to these feats works differently from other feats, such as those in the 2014 Player’s Handbook, they require a little bit of additional examination to determine how to best use them. Table of Contents The speed debuff is neat and could keep enemies from moving out of your reach, which can be helpful for a Defender. However, at PB/day uses you won’t be able to use this enough to build your tactics around it, so you still want things like Sentinel. Vigor of the Hill Giant D&D Beyond has released a free 16th-level one-shot, Giants of the Star Forge, which shows you how to use the book to make your own giant adventures. Wizards of the Coast has worked hard to ensure no Giant encounter feels stereotypical or same-y. It’s clear these creatures are more than just lumbering behemoths, with no fate other than the end of an adventurer’s blade. Admittedly, they have some interesting non-combat encounters thrown in there, which is good for when you want to express to your party that not all monsters they encounter need slaying.

Because of this, giants often do not pray to their progenitor but to his divine children and other hero-deities that constitute the giants' pantheon. The sons of Annam, representing each subsection of giantkind, hold significant positions among the religious beliefs of the various giant civilizations. The feats are all quite strong, as most of the 4th-level feats come with an ASI and a full feat’s worth of benefit. But, as we’ve seen with the latest 5e content and 2024 Player’s Handbook playtests, they also come with a feat tree-esque restriction system, which should balance things out a bit. We’ve reviewed each of these feats in-depth in our separate feat guides: With 21 new magic items, the options from this book are plentiful. There’s only one downside: the items in the book all have a rarity of rare or above, meaning you can only start playing with them at later levels and can’t give out too many without your party becoming too powerful. I'm a little concerned about the content ... will it be unique content? Or just a mish-mash of content from other books? Since it's been delayed, I imagine they're just going to release once ready. They can't release earlier (obviously) and later screws the schedule, so they'll just release ASAP - they're no longer timing it with relation to Phandelver.

It would have been nice to group the adventure hooks in the Enclaves chapter and encounter tables with some semblance of CR suggestions, so you can better prepare adventures for your party. Some giants decide to shun their peers’ gods and turn to deities outside of societal norms, seeking power to defy their position in the ordning, a grave transgression against the ordning that results in social ostracism.
