Description

Pre-moulded silicone earplugs: probably the most common type of swimming earplug, these gain points for being durable. However, some people find that the non-customised fit means they have a tendency to fall out of their ears. The more often you’re in the water, the more chance there is of getting swimmer’s ear. And if you’re training for an upcoming event, the last thing you want to be worrying about is pain and irritation. What kinds or earplugs are available? We recommend wearing the earplugs the entire flight, up until the airplane has landed and the cabin has been depressurized. Yes. The earplugs can be cleaned with mild soap and warm water. Dry thoroughly before re-inserting into ear canal.

Absolutely not. The earplugs may become slightly more pliable when exposed to warm temperatures, but never viscous. Each batch of material is stability tested in our lab at over 350 degrees F. (The typical temperature for a hot tub and sauna is 104 degrees F and 170 degrees F respectively.) To date, not a single test has shown positive results for melting or shape transformation (instability). Push and twist plug into ear to form an airtight seal. Be careful not to push plug in too far that you are unable to easily grasp it with thumb and forefinger.

Original Earplugs

The earplugs are made of polyurethane foam. The “latex” in our foam earplugs is not natural latex, it is a synthetic latex technically called an emulsion polymer. It has the same properties as latex (water based, adhesive, etc.) but does not have the enzyme problem associated with natural latex. Yes, these dual-purpose earplugs are designed to provide both noise and water protection. Remove the cord from the earplugs (with firm tug) before using for water activities or where there is a risk that the cord may get caught up during use. Do not use these earplugs for sleeping. Use only as directed.

If you are having trouble getting the plug to seal, re-insert and wiggle stem while gently pushing plug to form an airtight seal. If you are having trouble inserting the plug, try pointing the tip of the plug slightly forward, toward face, during insertion. It is believed that the earplugs slow down and/or decrease the effects of the in-flight air pressure changes, thus allowing the ears more time to respond and equalize. As mentioned above, another manner by which the earplugs help is by lowering the noise levels in the cabin allowing the user to rest, thus helping combat the effects of jet lag. The benefit of this rest is twofold in that is also helps calm and relax the “tense” flyer, thus allowing them to equalize more effectively. If you are suffering from an ear health condition, we recommend you consult an E.N.T. (ear, nose, and throat doctor) before flying while using the earplugs. There are generally three different kinds of earplugs you can get, but when it comes to swimming, only two fit the bill.

Are there any additional application tips to help me get an airtight / watertight seal with the earplugs? Foam earplugs: these are cheap but not particularly effective at keeping water out of your ears. For this reason, our list doesn’t include any of this variety. If, in the extremely rare instance you should experience any type of rash or skin irritation while using this product, please discontinue use immediately. Consult your doctor or go to your local medical emergency room if you believe you require immediate medical attention. After a doctor inserts ear tubes, is it O.K. to use a flanged style earplug like this to keep out water, thus helping prevent infection?

SnoreBlockers Earplugs

To remove, grasp earplug stem with thumb and forefinger and remove slowly with a twisting motion to gradually break the seal. No. These earplugs were specifically designed to provide superior water protection. That is not to say that they cannot be used for noise protection, but the product does not currently carry a Noise Reduction Rating, nor does it make any claims that it is designed to be used for hearing protection. Without earplugs, it’s very easy for water to enter the ear canal. This creates a moist environment where bacteria can grow, sometimes resulting in a painful and irritating condition called swimmer’s ear – or Otitis Externa.
