The key difference is that the Oral B iO Series 10 has a magnetic charger with iO Sense technology, but iO 9 Series only has a magnetic charger without iSense. All system components (e.g., toothbrush handle, charger, power cord, SmartGuide). You do not need to include accessories like the brush heads or refill stand. Some sessions are better than others. It regularly thinks you are brushing a different zone to the one you are in, or not register it at all. There can also be a noticeable lag/delay in the visuals.

Oral-B iO Series 9 vs Oral-B iO Series 6: choose the right

If you know that you are going to take that time, then after using it for a few weeks you will begin to have a memory of where you need to go in your mouth and how long you need to stay there to make sure every surface of the tooth has been covered. In addition, the Prestige will reduce the brushing intensity. Called ‘adaptive intensity’ it will reduce the power from high to low if you apply too much pressure for too long. The Philips brush is cheaper to buy initially, but the brush heads are a bit more expensive than the Oral-B heads. Over 3 years the Oral-B works out a bit cheaper, but there isn’t a huge difference in it.

The best Oral-B electric toothbrushes to buy in 2023

Depending on the model you go for, you have the choice between 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 brushing modes. 7 is the maximum number of cleaning modes available on any Oral-B brush. The Oral B iO 10 Series is the latest Oral B electric toothbrush. It closely follows the iO series nine which has been the flagship design prior to the introduction of the iO10. And here are the difference and similarities between them. It is clear that they both share the typical electric toothbrush form factor. Yet there are small differences in the aesthetics of the handles. Get a uniquely personalized clean with 7 Smart Brushing Modes including Daily Clean, Whiten, Gum Care, Sensitive, Super Sensitive, Intense, and Tongue Clean.

One of the Oral-B iO Series 9's best features is its color display, below the power button (Image credit: Future) At the end of the cleaning cycle, the same thing happens. But, the 9900 has a power off feature, which makes it very clear the cleaning cycle is complete. The iO Series 9 and 10 continues to function, relying on you to turn the brush off. It will power off after 5 minutes, but you don’t need to brush for this length of time. What cleaning modes does the iO ten have? It’s seven modes, they are: Sensitive, Daily Clean, Gum care, Tongue clean, Intense, Very sensitive, and Whitening The Oral-B iO Series 9 and Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige are both premium electric toothbrushes, with designs to match. The retail prices make Sonicare a clear favourite. When adjusted selling prices are used there is little to choose between them in price.

Why Choose Series9?

Each cleaning mode differs somewhat in the level of electricity from the motor which they work with to attain outcomes that are different. With the iO, although the default set time is 2 minutes, you determine just how long you wish to clean for. This translucent panel runs a full 360 degrees around the handle. Via the smartphone app or the handle itself, this can be programmed in different colours.

Both brushes contain position sensors that can detect which part of your mouth you're currently brushing, and a Bluetooth transmitter that can send this data to the Oral-B app on your smartphone. It might sound like overkill, but once you've tried it, we think you'll be impressed. The app shows your progress on-screen as you brush, helping you thoroughly clean each portion of your mouth and guiding you to improve your brushing technique. It's a genuinely useful feature, and developing better technique will stand you in good stead in the future.Whilst none of handles are perfect cylinders, the iO’s are the slightly more rounded of the three. The Prestige feels squarer in hand.

Does the iO ten come with a traveling case? Yes Indeed, it has a Power2go traveling case. This keeps the handle and two brush heads. Additionally, it allows the brush to be charged in the case utilising the Oral B charging cable. The Series 5 comes with a refill holder that holds and protects 2 brush heads. The iO6 does not come with this. iO Series:>Oral-B’s flagship range, using a new magnetic motor and redesigned heads for a gentle yet effective clean. Smart features come as standard, while the higher-end models come with magnetic chargers and other premium accessories. The key features that dentists recommend for an electric toothbrush are a timer, pacer and pressure sensor. The iO9 does have all of these. Pressure sensors don’t come smarter than this When you brush in real-time with the app, the pacing is disabled. The logic is that you are paying attention to the timer and visuals on screen, therefore you don’t need the prompts. When you set up your toothbrush, you’ll be prompted to choose a color for its light. This isn’t just a nice touch of personalization; it also has a practical use. Like most higher-end electric toothbrushes, the Oral-B iO Series 9 has a pressure sensor. However, this is much more useful than the standard red light to indicate that you’re pressing too hard; as well as detecting excessive pressure, it also detects whether you’re not pressing hard enough. Your aim is to keep the light illuminated in your chosen color as much as possible, without straying into red (too much pressure) or blue (not enough). Performance The light ring illuminates in different colours to alert you when you are brushing with too much or too little force:
