Our Malt Master selects only the best Gran Reserva rum casks from the Caribbean, to create a luxurious dry and spicy finish. A perfect complement to our whisky’s fruity signature notes. It is truly a whisky that is raised in Scotland and roused by the Caribbean. A fabulous 21 Year Old bottling from Glenfiddich, and as its name suggests this particular single malt was finished in casks used previously to age Caribbean rum for four months! Some cask influence in the form of tropical fruit and spicy ginger to be found in here.Distilled by Glenfiddich and matured for 21 years, this bottling from the brand features a Caribbean rum finish. The duration of the finish isn't disclosed and it's bottled at 40% ABV. Let's dig in. For my tastes Glenfiddich really hits its prime between 14-18 years and in the rare occasions you can get it at cask strength in that age range it’s stunning. I’ve harped on the 40% thing a lot lately while tasting through a bunch of Glenfiddich, but that’s because I know what Glenfiddich can taste like when it’s not neutered. Expressions like this Glenfiddich 21 just don’t do this lovely spirit justice. Medium to long finish, more oak here, maple, tobacco, light citrus and a big wallop of nougat. Satisfying complex, and a step up over other super premium Glenfiddich's. Fruit, honey, citrus peel, malt, butterscotch and a light bit of wood and brown sugar. It’s an ok aroma, but nothing exiting. That’s a great question Martin, it’s hard to say when you have those things in your head. I’ve never had it, but if it’s even more disappointing sounding like you’re saying I don’t know if I want to! ;P
