Description

Named after the year in which 1800 Tequila first started barrel-ageing tequila, this 100% weber blue agave tequila has been aged in French Oak barrels for a minimum of 14 months.

Sold as the first truly sippable tequila, 1800 holds high esteem in the industry and is easily identified by its unique trapezoidal bottle. Very nice indeed to see that tequila makers are looking toward the same maturation processes of Scottish whisky, and when the taste is as great as it is here it’s a surprise it’s not more commonly done! Its finish is described as spicy and well rounded with flavors of toasted oak, vanilla and butterscotch. Using only 100% Agave harvested and handpicked from family owned ranches, in Jalisco, Western Mexico, 1800 Anejo (meaning "aged" in Spanish) is double distilled for a smoother, cleaner flavour and aged in French and American Oak Barrels. The dark amber spirit boasts an oaky vanilla aroma, nutty with toffee flavor and a peppery spice finish. Tequila celebrates this date: the moment when tequila first broke with conventions and did something differently to get the liquid to a smoother, more characterful place. The combination of these maturation processes creates a complex, oaky number that is as great on its own as it is in a mixed drink. This 1800 Anejo is aged in small French oak barrels for over 12 months, (and a small proportion of it is even aged in American oak for three years). It is double distilled for a smoother, cleaner flavour and aged in French and American oak barrels for more than a year.

Great to sip on ice or without, use in a cocktail or to make your forget that you did something wrong. It was first released in 1975 by the Beckmann Family, who also own Jose Cuervo , and takes its name from the year that tequila was first aged in barrels. Named after the year that this particular producer first created barrel-aged tequila, 1800 Añejo has a deep flavour that’s great for sipping neat or adding into cocktails.Medium wooden notes typical of Porto wood, with cooked agave notes remaining throughout the entire stay in the mouth.
