Description

In the week I had it on my desk, I regularly adjusted it from flat to curved and then back depending on whether I was working, gaming, or watching a movie. Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. The Flex is certified by Nvidia and AMD for both G-Sync and FreeSync Premium operating over a 48-240 Hz range.

It accepts 4k signals and downscales them to 1440p, which results in a more detailed image than native 1440p. We even verified that the top of the screen on this monitor gets a bit brighter than the bottom, which is the same as with the LG. Refresh Overlay is a frame counter, and you can create your own aiming point with different shape combinations shown in the second photo above. You can see a black metal handle on the bottom edge of the screen here too which is used to help change the tilt adjustment.

We will talk about text rendering and image clarity a bit more later on in the office and general use section of the review too, where we will talk about the sub-pixel structure.

The stand is a large and imposing affair that is permanently attached to the screen – only the wide, V-shaped foot comes away. Unlike most monitors, the Flex’s sRGB mode can be independently calibrated, which is great for professionals who need reference quality for both color standards. We should say that the impact on the contrast and black depth on this screen was less pronounced than on the Dell Alienware AW3423DW (34″ ultrawide QD-OLED screen) which is often criticised for this problem, perhaps unfairly in some cases. If you fancy a more gentle curve than 800R you can leave the panel in any position between the maximum curve and flat.

It's one of two OLEDs available from Corsair, with the Corsair XENEON 27QHD240 being the smaller model compared to it. The pixel response is fantastic and with the right HDR content the Xeneon Flex does have obvious advantages over LCD displays. Most large format OLED screens run ABL or automatic brightness limiter algorithms that adjust brightness according to how much of the panel is being driven hard. That isn’t to say that the display itself isn’t elegant because it is; it’s just the bending mechanism that needs some finessing. But larger objects or full-screen brightness is a real challenge in terms of power consumption, heat, and the risk of burn in. So, when you’re adjusting the curvature of the panel, it’s really these bars that you’re controlling via the two handles that jut out of them on either side of the display.
