Description

It's night, still warm but more bearable. Shops and restaurants line up and countless spices hang in the air, rising to your nose. Your olfactory memory makes you smile. It smells somehow always the same but still a little bit different every time. You will also store this smell and keep it for the cold days at home.

I think most of the flankers were well executed, Intense, Yuzu, Bleu, etc. Sure they went a little bat shit with the 500 hundred summer variations but they are far from alone in that travesty. I was thrilled when the Nuit line came out and marked a radical departure from the original's DNA, and as the years progress more Nuit flankers hit the market. They've branched out over the years and released several fragrances that straddle the imaginary line between designer accessibility and niche artistry like their Ambre and Encens releases. Noir Argent is a flanker of Nuit that builds on the sweet leather DNA of the original but takes it in a new direction. Smell: 6/10. It's near perfect at the opening but the drydown is generic and hard for me to even smell. Issey Miyake aftershave has a reputation for having unique fragrances and a refreshing effect. 'Noir Argent' is no exception, this masculine scent was developed by Master Perfumer Dominique Ropion and is unlike any other. Frankly, I wouldn't buy another bottle, and I'm probably going to give it to a guy I work with. For my money, Prada Amber Intense does the whole sexy dark myrrh thing way better, and that's a frag I've reviewed and I think gave a perfect 10/10. It too melds myrrh, patchouli and leather together with fantastic performance and it oozes sex appeal. Our first average we look at for Issey Miyake Nuit D’Issey Noir Argent EDP Spray is to judge it against other products from the same brand, in this case it’s Issey Miyake. This tells us that there are a total of 30 Issey Miyake products at Fragrancedirect. I'm a big fan of the Miyake house in general. Their original fragrance was/is one of the better mainstream male aquatics on the market. It combined monstrous performance, a genuine unique and pleasing smell and competitive price, and despite over 2 decades on the market there are very few frags that I can say smell like it. Perry Ellis did a decent clone but other than that it's profile remains unique. I think it's due to the juxtaposition of sour citrus and strong florals, until Dior Homme came about mainstream men's frags had been adverse to floral notes for years. Nuit d'Issey is an extremely fresh, young and urban incense, but without losing an iota of elegance, with a very marked masculinity, and an extraordinary cleaning. I really liked this interpretation of the incense, very far from the incenses that I usually consume, but also a very beautiful incense. I admit I am getting older and smoking for years damaged my sense of smell but I know I'm not alone on this. And when I do smell a drydown that's heavy on aromachemicals it smells hazy to me. It's hard to describe, but it's the olfactory equivalent of trying to read a book without your glasses. I know what's there, and if I squint I can make it out but it's unpleasant, fuzzy and I get a headache. And the problem is one that seems to be increasing with recent releases from the past ten years or so. And there he also wants to arrive well. The super fresh and somewhat sweet start of soft citrus wakes you up first again, before you are attracted by the well-harmonizing spices. A powerful mix of pepper, wood and leather. Definitely very masculine. Very present, alerting, but not penetrating.

The fragrance was a Christmas gift to me. And thank God, alone I would probably not have come up with the idea to buy him. I'm not saying this because I'm a cost snob prissy fragrance fanatic. Some of my favorite frags are cheap cheap cheap CHEEEEAAAAAPPPPPPPIIIIIIIEEEEEEEESSSSS inexpensive. And I'm fine with certain frags with high levels of IsoE (Terre D'Hermes) or Ambroxan (Sauvage). Hell the entire genre of fougeres wouldn't exist without them. The problem is when high levels of these molecules are used as the base instead of bolstering other notes, I can't smell anything. Think of the difference between sprinkling salt on a steak and covering it with a pound of salt. On the plus side, it performs. Dear god does it perform. I smell it on my clothes 4 and 5 days later. Doesn't give a damn about heat or sweat either.

Customer Reviews

The start of the scent is at least as exciting as your first night in Bangkok and the beginning of a journey. As soon as you arrive at the hostel, it's straight onto Khaosan Road. Someone accidentally runs into you and you have your grapefruit juice now on your linen shirt.

He fits perfectly to the cold season and also to the short days - and as his name suggests - of course to the night :) He smells to me like a long, extensively danced through night. Some things blurred, some inhibitions became secondary, some things disappeared the next day, but one thing is for sure: the scent remains, if not on your skin, then in your head. And not just in your own. Originality: 7/10. There's not much on the designer market that smells like this in the opening. Even though I say it smells like Alien Man in the drydown, Alien is sort of weird and unique in it's own way. Price: 9/10. I got it for around 40 dollars on the secondary, which is a very fair price for a fragrance of this nature. Nuit d'Issey is so similar to Layton by PdM, though older, that I suspect it served a (perhaps big) little bit as a template. Issey Miyake is yes for a long time and rightly one of the larger manufacturers on the market, on which also houses like Marly should orientate. The opening is dominated by a sharp, lemon tinged myrrh. I hate to say things like "iT sMeLLs NiCHe LiKE" but the opening notes don't really smell like what I would call standard designer men's frags. Basically you aren't getting hit with myrrh or any incense really if you're hanging out in the men's frag section of Nordstroms. No the incense in Bleu De Chanel doesn't count. Yes you can fight me. The opening hour doesn't smell as refined or focused as the myrrh in Armani's Myrrh Imperiale but I feel it evolves more and shows the different facets of myrrh. Performance: 5/10. It's hard to score this one because I know it lasts 12-14 hours but if I can't smell it, how do I mark this up? In terms of duration is fine, between 6 and 7 hours in skin, with a moderate projection from the beginning. However, we then like to go a little deeper to explore more detail about the product by looking at products in the same category as Issey Miyake Nuit D’Issey Noir Argent EDP Spray. That then tells us that there are 2327 products in the Fragrance category at Fragrancedirect. Because of my "Spleen's" monthly to increase my collection of flacons / scents, my wife is rather reticent with compliments what my scents concern. But here she came all by herself and said, "smells very good". That means something! Normally I focus on fresh, aquatic, or on Tonka fragrances. This one's different, it's different. I don't want to lift him up on a gallery, just to say he doesn't have to hide.

The first hour is absolutely lovely, impressive work for any fragrance, and if it stayed like that this would easily be one of my favorite fragrances of all time. The base notes are Myrrh, Patchouli, Labdanum and Vetiver which offer a classic foundation for a long lasting, yet not overpowering, fragrance that will help you express your individuality while feeling fresh all day. Late in the evening on the beach, you sit down with a group of Thais and Europeans at the campfire. All sorts of woods flame together and dance in the moonlight. You are deeply relaxed and holding on to every second, because you know everything is in motion and fleeting.... This is my second review. I am far from having a clue. Still, I love the idea of what the architect must have been thinking. Now this is my interpretation:Night soul perfume and for cold or temperate climates. His dark heart of leather, spices and incense, which despite having that fresh vibe, is not a scent that I see diurnally, anyway, everyone will use it as they prefer, yes, I think that with the heat it would not be Very good ally.
