Description

Non-combustible ultra-lightweight mineral aggregate with excellent insulation & adsorption properties. Due to its high insulating qualities and versatility expanded perlite is widely used in the construction industry for masonry and other build types. Vermiculite Fineisgraded for horticultural use.It is lightweight, density approximately 100kg /m3, has a neutral pH (6.0-7.0), excellent insulation, retains water, and has a high porosity and high nutrient buffer capacity. Vermiculite Fine is widely used for covering fine seed during propagation and is also valuable in easing the water management of peat composts. It usually only takes a matter of minutes to complete the form and in most cases a decision is instant and you can electronically sign the agreement.

Micafil Vermiculite is a naturally occurring mineral that is expanded at high temperatures to produce aerated particles that are 90% air by volume. Its free-running properties make it easy to install, as it can be poured straight from the bag into and over all potential heat loss areas. By covering the entire loft floor with a continuous layer of insulation, you can create a carpet of heat-trapping material that will level off any irregularities in the floor. If you'd like more than 10 bags of compost please call our Customer Service team who can arrange for a bespoke competitive quote on 01480 774555 (standard network charges apply) Used in conjunction with a Register Plate to keep the granules in place, Vermiculite Insulation is a naturally occurring laminated material which, through thermal expansion, produces a highly aerated insulating and absorbent particle. This characteristic of exfoliation, the basis for commercial use of the mineral, is the result of the mechanical separation of the layers by the rapid conversion of contained water to steam. Vermiculite's key features include stabilising soil through effective aeration, and excellent moisture and nutrient retention - plus it won’t decompose or rot over time. Tips Perlite can be supplied in a number of grades, depending on the particular requirements of the application.

Vermiculite is irritant-free, ultra-lightweight, non-toxic, odour free and fireproof up to 1300 degrees centigrade Vermiculite Fine (1.0-3.0mm)is used to improve aeration, water management, nutrient retention and exchange and has insulation properties in growing media.

Finance FAQ's

Completely fireproof, non-irritant and fibre-free, very lightweight Micafil is used in so many ways. Free flowing and easy to install, it is ideal for thermal and acoustic insulation in lofts, between floors, interior cavity walls and for pipe protection. Vermiculite significantly reduces the loss of heat in cold weather and keeps the interior cool in hot weather This fibre free product has many applications including such as mixed with gypsum to form a fire retardant plaster for walls adjacent to a wood burning stove or one bag mixed with one bag of dry cement mixed in with twenty three litres of water produces flame retardant cement which can also be used around flue liners. 10x100 litre bags will cover 10m squared to a depth of 100mm. Why not use our Vermiculite Calculator to calculate your system requirements. Using Vermiculite can also aid propagation when used as a top layer as it reduces evaporation and can help ensure the seed case is lost. By using Vermiculite, you can also reduce plant stress in extreme weather conditions due to its insulation properties.

SwiftAir coated expanded perlite is a hydrophobic insulating aggregate. This water repellent, non-flammable, loose-pour insulant improves the thermal performance on masonry walls and floors. The free-running properties of Vermiculite make it simple to install. Poured straight from the bag, it simply flows into and overall potential heat loss areas. Perlite is a white, ultra-lightweight aggregate ranging from a very fine powder to an aggregate with a particle size up to 5mm in sizeVermiculite is a naturally occurring mineral – primarily a combination of silicon, magnesium and aluminium, it is easy to handle, sound absorbent, resistant to decay, fire-resistant and fibre-free Please note that this material is sold in smaller bags than our standard loose fill chips. This makes it considerably easier to handle and store. Vermiculite is a 100% natural material that can be used for void fill. It is made from aluminium-iron-magnesium-silicates and consists of thin, flat flakes. Also known as Micafil, it is sold in 100 litre (3.5 cubic ft) bags of lightweight chips and it is a great alternative to polystyrene chips. Vermiculite Micafil is as an excellent thermal insulating material capable of withstanding temperatures in excess of 1000C. Its nominal particle size is between 2 -15mm. Vermiculite Micafil with its free flowing properties of loose-fill, make it an excellent insulation for lofts. Micafil significantly reduces the loss of heat in cold weather and keep the interior cool in hot weather. Vermiculite is a group of hydrated laminar minerals -- aluminium-iron-magnesium silicates that resembles mica in appearance. These thin, flat flakes are subjected to high temperatures (700C to 1000C), and the vermiculite flakes will expand to many times their original size due to the microscopic layers of water within them turning to steam and forcing the laminar layers apart (exfoliation). The exfoliated vermiculite becomes granules containing microscopic air layers, which makes vermiculite lightweight and gives it excellent insulation properties. Vermiculite Micafil is clean to handle, nonabrasive, sound absorbent, resistant to decay, odourless and non-irritant. No, vermiculite mines and products are regularly tested in the UK and the rest of the world to ensure they do not contain asbestos. Is Micafil the same as vermiculite?

The increase in bulk volume of commercial grades is 8 to 12 times, but individual flakes may exfoliate as many as 30 times. There is a colour change during expansion that is dependent upon the composition of the vermiculite and furnace temperature. Expanded perlite is a white, ultra-lightweight aggregate ranging from a very fine powder to an aggregate with a particle size up to 5mm in size. It is inorganic, inert, neutral in pH, biologically stable and has no asbestos content. It has excellent thermal insulation properties over an extremely wide temperature range from cryogenics at minus 273°C (absolute zero) up to refractory applications at over 1000°C. It also has a highly adsorbent surface and a very low bulk density, which makes it an ideal carrier or low cost filler for many compound formulations. Micafil Vermiculiteis a naturally occurring mineral expanded at high temperature to produce aerated particles - 90% air by volume. The free running properties of Vermiculite make it simple to install. Poured straight from the bag, it simply flows into and over all potential heat loss areas.Cover the whole loft floor with a continuous heat trapping carpet of insulation, level off.Sinclair Vermiculite is perfect for a range of gardening tasks and helps compost hold onto vital plant nutrients by increasing its water retaining capacity. Vermiculite is a naturally occurring mineral and since it has been heated to high temperatures produces lightweight, absorbent flakes that encourages strong and healthy seedling growth. But that is not all - Micafil has many unique properties and is a versatile performer around the home:
