At the end of The Witch , in the glimmers of the lives Ursula and Maleficent lead, in Elphaba’s defiance, in the joy the first half of The Craft delivers, and in many other witch narratives, lives something incredible. These witch stories often speak far more powerfully to the queer audience than the other mainstream narratives they are allowed. Rom-coms about engagements, glimpses of girl bosses, and the always the momentary cameo of a family all fall short in the face of a norm-breaking, powerful coven. The Data Lounge has reported that Penny gets angry whenever the topic of her daughter Brooke Daniells and Catherine is brought up. She feels that it is a big secret and assumes that Brooke has brought her dishonor. She has also mentioned that her husband is her superhero and works for the family and the country. He might probably be in the defense.

Yelena Belova is a second year residency transfer to a major hospital in NYC. During her first day she meets a frequent flyer patient and her life will never be quite the same.

Imi: This post is an absolute massive task. Until this year, it has been mostly undertaken by Ellie due to her generally having more free time but this was not the case this year. While I always knew it was a big job, I have never fully appreciated the sheer amount of work that was put into Ellie’s research and inputting of data – I would just slide in near the end to reformat the post, making some graphics and add a few of my own book suggestions. That is, until her late girlfriend walks through her front door once again Language: English Words: 32,017 Chapters: 6/? Comments: 32 Kudos: 57 Bookmarks: 5 Hits: 920

The Witch’s Mirror (1962) is a Mexican movie where a man murders his wife, only to have her ghost emerge from a mirror years later to antagonize him. Did you Know the Marriage of Catherine Bell ended because she was a lesbian, Adam Beason?- Brooke Daniels —->>> Go through the Video<<<—- Quentin Tarantino sparked renewed interest in this Spanish horror film, putting it on many of his top ten lists and naming a chapter of his “Kill Bill Vol. 1” book after it. DirectorVicente Aranda, the film attained cult status not only for its erotic horror themes, but for its rejection of fascism in Francoist Spain. And maybe Natasha will have to accept help from the other Avengers in progress, and maybe her relationship with Wanda will evolve during all this. Witches are always popular around Halloween, or even just in the fall, for that autumnal vibe. In my part of the world, we’re just entering summer, but in some places, bookworms are staring down the business end of winter. If you’re heading into winter, witch books are perfect for a cozy, it’s-dark-and-stormy-outside feeling. The divorce procedure was completed in the year 2015. The cause of this breakup is not known. Did you Know the Marriage of Catherine Bell ended because she was a lesbian, Adam Beason?- Brooke Daniels —->>> Go through the Video <<<—- Dracula’s Daughter” and other coded takes on lesbianism lit a cultural fire that exploded in the ‘60s and ‘70s. As censorship and restrictions on nudity waned, lesbian vampires morphed from closeted predators to full-blown bloodthirsty seductresses. Homosexual acts attract a five-year jail term in Cameroon, with at least 50 people convicted for crimes ranging from cross-dressing to a man texting "I love you" to another man between 2010 and 2014, according to CAMFAIDS, an LGBT+ advocacy group. Meanwhile, the witches of this movie also partake in the same norm-breaking that Ursula and Maleficent introduce. They steal and kill babies, the most horrifying destruction of a normative union, mashing them up for their personal ends. They torment men. The witches leave no one who cleaves to any organized belief, in this case, primarily religious, untouched. In the end, only Thomasin remains standing. Witches in the Woods (2020) not so much a witch movie, but a creepy witch-hunt movie that is new and somewhat good.

In the opening of the book Becoming Dangerous: Witchy Femmes, Queer Conjurers and Magical Rebels, there is a story about a group of lesbians in Wolf Creek, Oregon, who in 1974, created a magazine called Womanspirit, which was a witchy combination of spirituality and feminism. According to Kristen J Sollée – the academic who recounts this history and brilliantly self-describes as an “occulture slut” – the people who created the magazine were part of the women’s liberation movement and were “frustrated with the limitations of patriarchal religion.” They saw witchcraft was a way to build trust with one another in their lesbian separatist pseudo-cult. Sollée traces this tradition of witchery as political power through to 2017, when a group of witches called the Yerbamala Collective decided to hex Donald Trump. “Complacency is anti-magic,” they wrote in a poem, “witches of all genders ride now”. As a viewer, the statement elicits mixed emotions for me. On one hand, it is very obvious that the two are romantically involved, and no corporate press release can change that. On the other hand, it’s yet another example of queer representation being relegated to fans’ “interpretation.” Canon interpretations confirmed by creators don’t define a piece of media or its legacy with fans, but it does take the glimmer off of what appeared to be an unabashedly queer show. I tell my kids and husband that I love them at least a dozen times every day. I’m saved by God’s beautiful grace.” You had always felt a sense of loneliness until you met Yelena, and from the moment she decided that you two were friends, your life took an unexpected turn. This new connection led you into a world where Natasha existed, a world filled with wonder and beauty. You had been mesmerized by her from the moment you first laid eyes on her as a child, although at the time, you were too young to fully comprehend your fascination with her. What could be more good, after all, than King Triton’s abusive destruction of Ariel’s property? Or Aurora’s birth betrothal and the desire of her father that she wed and have babies immediately? Or the way, even when King Triton does come around, Ariel gets literally hefted from her father to her husband? But what could be purer than birth? Or more important than marriage?

The Hunger (1983)

Yet despite the emphasis on bonds amongst women, many pop cultural appearances of witches completely overlook the potential for queer relationships. Witchy women rely on each other for guidance and camaraderie but rarely seem to see each other as romantic partners. Romantic partnerships will ultimately be forged with men even if those men don’t seem particularly worthy or remarkable. In Practical Magic, for instance, did that guy even have a personality beyond an ability to flip pancakes? Was that really worth a life-changing romance? Bailee!!! you inspire me in so many ways – your kind generous spirit, your work ethic, creativity, talent, care of others, your playful spirit!!! and so much more! LOVE YOU girl!! I will definitely miss you on set.. we ALL will. But I am excited to see where your journey takes you next. And I’m with you wherever that is❤️” Ellie: Little to add that hasn’t already been said, but the amount of work put into this post each year is truly extraordinary and it wouldn’t have been possible without everyone’s amazing help (ty to Lauren, Bec, Kath for layout, research etc & then everyone else for your title suggestions and tips)! The biggest goal of this masterlist is always to help readers find new sapphic books, so fingers crossed that it helps. Thank you all for your support of F/F February, it is truly heartwarming <3
