This clever bit of rubber banding keeps players from marking off a large percentage of the cards. It adds that small but effective extra layer of strategy that really stops players and has them asking, “Is this card worth the risk?” Stella Brings the Fun Dixit Moments January 26, 2021 – New Dixit Universe Board Game Stella Announced By Libellud. The publisher has been teasing a mysterious new title with two illustrations since December and today it is finally known that this title will be Stella, a brand new type of game within the Dixit universe. The big reveal came with an image of the work in progress cover that does a good job of saying “this feels aetherial like Dixit is, but something like I have never seen”, something just a little more dangerous. Stella is a fantastic game for anyone who loves the art heavy, card interpretation games but isn’t looking for the performative storytelling aspect. PARIS — February 1, 2023 — Today, innovative board game publisher Libellud announced its first collaboration with Disney, the world’s premier entertainment company, with the introduction of Dixit Disney. This new, standalone game in the Dixit universe, is based on the beloved themes and characters found in Disney and Pixar films.

We also really appreciated that while the player is unable to score any more points once they fall, they aren’t eliminated from the round and still participate in announcing associations with other players who haven’t fallen. Part of the Asmodee Group, French board game publisher founded in 2008, Libellud has rapidly met with success, thanks to its first game, Dixit. Over the last decade, the Dixit franchise has become a must-have title, selling more than 12 million copies in 40 languages worldwide. Based in Poitiers, the company employs 19 people. Libellud enjoys developing original games based on imagination, sharing and dreams. With the Dixit, Loony Quest, Mysterium and Dice Forge series, the company explores new game horizons allowing us to reach both family and experienced players. Learn more at libellud.com. If only that player chose that card, that player falls and cannot score any more sparks or super-sparks, nor be the scout this round. Need new challenges? Join ranked games and meet new challenges! Are you excited about the new Dixit Universe board game Stella announced By Libellud? Let us know in the comments below!

Stella is published by Libellud, who also handles the rest of the Dixit oeuvre, its ghostly cousin Mysterium (one of Dicebreaker's best spooky games for Halloween) and the mystical bluffing title Obscurio, among others. It said in the most recent announcement that Stella will be “compatible with all past and future Dixit Universe games and expansions”, lending weight to this nascent series planning much more than a few collaborative boxes. An additional worry is that if you have choose more images than anyone else in a round, you earn less points for that whole round no matter what. Now if you ever “fall” and reveal a card that no one else selected, all of your points you earned lose a star. This effectively halves your score for that round. Hello! I want to discuss a game that was recently added to Board Game Arena (in beta) called Stella! More specifically, I want to recommend that you all give it a play. Personally, I was never a huge fan of Dixit. I know many that love it, but for me, it never landed. Stella however is the perfect spin off that fixes many of the issues I had with Dixit. Stella completely removes the judging element of Dixit and replaces it with the very clever association matching. This keeps the game moving at a great pace. There’s also no judging on which cards players chose or any story telling element yet players are still using the cards to associate with a word clue which in a way still brings in that story telling vibe.

Each player will observe the cards and privately mark on their player board which cards they think can be associated with the word.

In this phase you reveal how many cards you have associated with the word. You do this by using your lantern chip. You place it on the number equal to your number of cards. The player with the highest number turns over the lantern token to the 'dark side'. If a player associated a card with the word that no one else associated, then they “fall” and are unable to score any more points for the round. However, they will still announce if they associated a card that a player who has not fallen selected so players who have not fallen can earn points. Marking more cards could net a player more points, thus bringing them closer to winning, but the player each round who linked more cards than the others runs the risk of losing big. Like previous entries, accuracy counts for more than quantity in the long term. Players then strategically reveal certain choices they feel others in the group have made. If they match up, both score more points - it pays to think like the competition. For fans of Dixit, Stella still has a lot of what you love! There are still a lot of fun moments where players are laughing at either how they knew for sure another player would select a card because of insert special memory here. That’s where a lot of the exciting Super Spark moments come from and we were all surprised by how exciting that felt to match with just one other person.
