Description

Unlike many other refrigerant models, it also performs reasonably well in cooler environments – although for a permanently unheated room a desiccant dehumidifier is still probably the better option. We really liked this model, and found it perfect for use in the colder months for drying laundry and keeping the air quality high inside our tester Andy’s flat. What’s more, its compact size means it can be easily stored away during the summer. Protect your dehumidifier against the cost and hassle of unexpected failure and give yourself some added peace of mind with one of our great value extended warranties! You can be assured that your dehumidifier will be covered against failure for the duration of your policy. As for energy consumption, you can find out more in our guide to ' How much does it cost to run a dehumidifier?'. However, the easiest way to find out is to compare each dehumidifier's wattage. The higher the number of Watts the appliance requires, the more expensive running costs will be.

It has a motorised louvre that’s located at the top of the machine. This directs air through a wide angle to help dry clothes faster. Air leaves the machine a couple of degrees warmer than it entered, but the Low Energy isn’t going to have a strong warming effect compared to desiccant dehumidifiers. The De'Longhi Tascuigo AriaDry DEX216F is the largest model in the range and able to extract 16L of water from the air per day, and although the tank capacity isn't the largest, at 2.1L it still offers adequate capacity. This multi-purpose appliance also has an air purifier function with a double filtration system that can remove dust and other allergens from the air, plus a dedicated Laundry Drying function. Home Dehumidifiers are becoming an increasingly popular choice amongst our customers who are looking to reduce their heating costs or save energy costs. Aside from the financial motivations, there is also the matter of health for people living in a potentially damp environment. We’ll detail some of the most popular reasons people buy dehumidifiers for the home. Despite its compact size, this dehumidifier is also heavy. And noisy. We also didn’t find it that much help with drying clothes, although it did a good job of managing general damp and reducing condensation and mould on windows and walls.

How does the MeacoDry ABC Dehumidifier work?

As Chris Michael, Managing Director of the air quality brand Meaco says, inside the home, 'excess moisture in the air can come from drying clothes in the house, boiling vegetables, putting the kettle on, bathing, showering, open flame gas style heating, damp clothing, breathing, and the damp British weather.' This is a compressor dehumidifier meaning you have low running costs, and when you see how quiet these dehumidifiers are you have a near perfect solution for dehumidifying in the home.

The EcoAir DD1 Simple MK3 Dehumidifier can extract up to 7.5 litres of moisture per day in cold temperatures as low as 1ºc, so it's a very useful option for conservatorys, basements or garages that don't have dedicated heating, as well as unheated rooms in the home during winter months. Auto restart. If the dehumidifier loses power, it will automatically restart with the same settings you left it on. Overall, this is a best-in-class dehumidifier that does a fantastic job of extracting moisture from the home and is one of the best dehumidifier for drying washing fast. We offer both compressor dehumidifiers and desiccant dehumidifiers - giving you a choice of the right unit for your home. Desiccant dehumidifiers are ideal for basements, garages and workshops, where temperatures often fall below 10 degrees. Compressor dehumidifiers are the more popular choice for rooms where you live, and some come with HEPA filters so that they are purifying the air in your home at the same time as reducing humidity levels. The MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifiers are some of the best dehumidifiers we've tested. They're quiet, easy to use, work superbly and are very energy-efficient compared to other compressor models. Plus, all offer a built-in air purification function to improve air quality within the home in more ways than one.

Our verdict

Normally, you wouldn’t do this – the ideal humidity is usually 40% to 60% and within a few degrees of 50% is fine. However, if you’re trying to deal with mildew, mould or damp patches, then you’ll want to keep it a little lower. Energy Efficient costs just 2.7p/hour based on the UK average tariff of 15p/kWhEliminates Moisture – Ideal for damp and condensation

The sleek and modern unit with navy blue exterior stands out from the crowd in all the right ways, and whilst it doesn't have built-in wheels like most dehumidifiers of this size, the integrated carry handle and mid-weight build make it relatively easy to transport from room to room. If you want a more compact build, then there is also a 12L and 14L model available.Meaco’s existing 20L MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier produced a maximum 44dB(A) of noise at one metre and consumed roughly 244W. The Arete One is specified to top out at 40dB(A) and consume around 250W, although – as we’ll see later – measured consumption is actually much lower. For more details, you can read our full Russell Hobbs RHDH1061G Portable Dehumidifier review. How to choose

So, if you’re after the smallest dehumidifier on the market, we think the Russell Hobbs RHDH1061G wins the accolade of best small dehumidifier, with good all round performance for its size housed in one of the smallest builds on the market – along as you don't expect too much from that 0.3L extraction rate. As the “Low Energy” name suggests, Meaco have put a lot of effort into reducing the energy consumption of the dehumidifier. Considering the 20 litre per day extraction rate (measured at ideal conditions), the 255W power is very low compared to other models. At an energy cost of 15.32p/kWh, the machine will cost a maximum of just 3.88p/hour to run. Lastly, there's extra functionality to consider. The best dehumidifiers you can buy offer a Smart mode. That means you can leave the dehumidifier running and its sensors will detect the humidity levels and switch the machine on and off to keep humidity within your desired range. That saves energy (and money) as the appliance isn't running if it doesn't need to be. It's also important not to confuse the extraction rate with a dehumidifiers water tank capacity. As both are generally measured in litres or millilitres this can sometimes cause confusion. Like most dehumidifiers, the tank includes a simple float that switches the machine off when full. This prevents water spilling over your carpet if you forget to empty it. PortabilityAnd whilst its energy use is low compared to many dehumidifiers on the market, it can't beat the super energy-efficient MeacoDry Arete One in this regard. The Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy dehumidifier uses 220W, whereas the comparable MeacoDry 12L Arete One uses just 151W of energy, and doesn't cost that much more upfront at full RRP. The MeacoDry also offers a built-in air purifier, a larger 2.5L water tank, better laundry drying performance, and quieter operation. A simple easy to use control panel – we made the most often used buttons larger and the least used buttons smaller. Plus, the MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier'sSmart Laundrymodeworks brilliantly for drying washing indoors – wet laundry was dry in hours rather than the days it can usually take in the draughty Victorian terrace we tested the unit in.
