With all that said about Elan, there was only really one choice for this army. I feel too weird about high Imperial Britain on the tabletop to go with the home nation, Prussia and Austria have colours I don’t like painting, and I already have a 28mm Russian force (only a century and a half later at that). It has to be France. I want to roll dice and shout toujours de l’audace, and have generals called things like the Dear Child of Victory.

This box set includes enough parts to build 6 28mm weapons with 12 figures that can act as both crew and command. Options include: tri-barell cannon, quad ball turret, heavy plasma weapon, and mortar. Specialist troops like snipers, medics, communication specialists, standard bearers and field officers can also be built. Along with all the existing head options for Les Grognards, this box set includes four new female head types. Old Guard cavalry [ edit ] Horse Grenadiers of the Old Guard during the Battle of Eylau by Édouard Detaille The Je Ne Sais Quoi– something a little bit extra that makes a project different and fun. Might be theming units to syncretic future religion like in my 40k Sisters, or matching each living unit to an undead one in my Oathmark force. Whatever it is, a new project has to have something extra for me to really give a shit about it. Thank you for joining me in this review of Les Grognards Command and Heavy Support miniatures boxed set by Wargames Atlantic. These miniatures have a unique look and feel all their own. Historically themed after French armies of the past, these miniatures would work great as a 28mm proxy Imperial Guard army for Warhammer 40,000. A look at all the minis I made with this boxed set (plus one extra Les Grognards body). This box set includes enough parts to build 6 28mm weapons with figures that can act as both crew and command. I threw together another three six-man bases of Chasseurs, bought a fairly random selection of Perry metals (even getting the clippers and modelling putty out because is an army without some headswaps even really an army?), three boxes of Perry plastics – two line infantry and some Cuirassiers – three ebooks and one big fat book. All bought on the basis of enjoying painting 8 men, and without a rulebook, plan or particular knowledge of the army or period at all. It is 1973. Golan. The Syrians invade. The 7th Armor Brigade IDF responds. The Oz 77 leads the way." Christopher Selman brings us a new variant!

HistWar is a game that takes place at the operational and tactical levels during the period 1805-1814. Live an unique Experience : this battle simulator puts you at the centre of your army and puts you in the position of the commander-in-chief. From his blog, Boardgames, Wargames, and Miniatures, Tad presents this video unboxing. Sometimes you have to drop everything and open a box. military powers are included including France, Russia, Austria, Wurtemberg, Saxony, Poland, Sweden, Italy or Naples, as well as foreign supporting units (Irish, Portuguese, Swiss, Croats…).The emperor housed his fiercely loyal Old Guard in the best quarters, dressed them in the sharpest uniforms and lavished them with the finest rations. In return, he expected them to fight ferociously when called upon. And fight they did, with unflagging bravery in all of Napoleon’s most famous battles. On the other hand, they were strictly supervised in aspects such as the state of their uniforms or the height and presentation of their horses, and severely punished or reprimanded for any failures in those regards. [12] End of the Old Guard [ edit ] Napoleon saying goodbye to the Old Guard at the Palace of Fontainebleau, after his first abdication (1814)

The Old Guard was disbanded by the victorious Sixth Coalition in 1814, along with the rest of the Imperial Guard; [13] and Napoleon bade them an emotional farewell at the Palace of Fontainebleau after his first abdication where many of them cheered at him and cried. [14] [15]

Units are organized following historical army composition: Corps, Division, Brigade, Regiment, Battalion, and artillery companies. Each type of infantry unit displays a wealth of unique and individually modeled soldiers including the battalion Major, Color/Eagle bearers, Sappers, Skirmishers, Grenadiers, Fusilierrs and Guards. Every artillery piece is crewed by 5 or 6 gunners and their team of 2 to 6 horses and attached limbers. Cavalry units will show their Colonels, Captains, flag bearers, Cuirassiers, Hussars, Chasseurs, Carbiniers, Lancers and more. In addition to the impressive AI structure, Les Grognards also models the combat itself in impressive detail. All combat losses are calculated using complex mathematical models which take into account factors such as the geometrical arrangement of the physical unit formations, their training, their combat abilities, their fatigue, and their morale. Unit Morale itself is modeled to a great degree and affected by such diverse elements as the presence and status of the Army commander nearby, proximity of friendly units, fatigue, weather effects, sustained losses, and much more! If you are sponsoring a board gaming convention of some type, or know of one that is not listed on Grognard.com, then The beginnings of my Imperial Army – another couple of kits and I’ll have a massive force to ally to my Ultramarines
